Aussie swim star Kyle Chalmers has announced some exciting news.
The Olympic and world swimming champion announced he and his Norwegian fiancee, also a successful swimmer, Ingeborg Løyning, are expecting their first child.
“We can’t wait to welcome our little Norwegian princess into the world later this year,” Løyning shared on Instagram, alongside an image of the couple holding baby scans.
The news sparked a wave of congratulations from Chalmers’ Australian Dolphins teammates.
“OMG congratulations!!!” wrote Shayna Jack. “So happy for you both. You’ll make incredible parents.”
Olympic gold medallist Ariarne Titmus also chimed in: “So happy for you guys xx.”
The baby news caps off a whirlwind 12 months for Chalmers and Løyning, who announced their engagement last June in the lead-up to the Paris Olympic Games.
Chalmers continued his remarkable Olympic journey in Paris, claiming silver in the 100m freestyle — his third consecutive podium finish in the event he famously won as a teenager in Rio 2016.
Despite nearly a decade at the top, retirement isn’t on his radar.
He recently returned to Adelaide to continue his career after training on the Sunshine Coast in the lead-up to Paris.
Following the Games, Chalmers travelled to Norway with Løyning, meeting her family and soaking in European life as he celebrated his Olympic success.
