Patrons are allowed to return to the races in south-east Queensland following the region being released from lockdown at 4pm Sunday.
Doomben was a virtual ghost town for Saturday’s metropolitan meeting with only essential racing personnel allowed on course.
However Racing Queensland said on Sunday afternoon the lifting of the lockdown meant patrons could return to racecourses in the region.
In line with State Government requirements, face masks are required for fans attending the track in south-east Queensland.
With Cairns going into lockdown for three days, only essential racing personnel can now attend racing/training venues in that area.
Doomben was scheduled to host its big Mekka race day on Wednesday but that has been moved as the Brisbane “Ekka” showday public holiday has been shifted.
The Wednesday meeting is one of the most well-attended of the year and is a huge breadwinner for the club, with it attracting a younger crowd.
However, it will now be moved to September in the hope Covid-19 restrictions have eased by then.
