Multiple teams put 50 points plus on rivals while others are undefeated after an action packed opening day of the NSW junior rugby state championships.

There was sunshine - and in some cases a little frost - for day one of the NSW juniors state rugby championships along with some great games, fabulous tries and winning runs.

There were also some fabulous action photos from Julian Andrews as the annual championships for the rising stars of rugby kicked off at various venues in Sydney and in regional areas including Orange, Dubbo and Maitland.

While the under 12s event had to be postponed due to recent floods on the NSW north coast, all other age groups went ahead on Saturday on day one of the three day event.

The championships are a chance for young guns to get a taste of top level competition in their age group and also give selectors from the NSW Waratahs the chance to spot and identify talent early.
