More Fox success at Games? Cousin gunning for Los Angeles Olympics

The cousin of Jess and Noemie Fox has the next Olympic Games in his sights – something that could strike fear into the hearts of international paddlers after the women’s three-gold haul in Paris.

The international Fox hunt could be on again at the next Olympics, with Jess and Noemie Fox set to be joined by cousin Mark Crosbee in the international arena.

While Jess Fox is yet to confirm whether she’ll push on towards a potential fifth Olympic campaign in Los Angeles in 2028, her focus is firmly on next year’s world championships in Penrith, where she’ll be joined by gold medal-winning sister Noemie.

And there could be another athlete with a stunning pedigree joining them, with their cousin Mark Crosbee – the son of Jess and Noemie’s aunt, their father’s sister Rachel, on a fast track to success.

A junior world champion in canoe slalom in 2022, Crosbee had an outside shot at making the team for Paris but LA looms as a far more realistic goal for the 20-year-old.

Like his cousins, Crosbee has an impeccable pedigree in the sport, with his mother, like her brother Richard Fox an Olympic representative for Great Britain.

Father Dave also represented team GB in the international arena, while his younger sister Sarah is another up and coming paddler who could yet challenge for an Olympic place at the Brisbane Games.

While he grew up in Scotland, Crosbee had been based in Victoria since the family’s move to Australia but has moved to Penrith to live and train in the same environment that has proved so fruitful for his cousins.

A Sport Australia Hall of Fame scholarship holder who is mentored by gold medal-winning rower Drew Ginn, Crosbee had a shot at making the team for Paris but was hindered this season by a string of injuries.

Next year’s world championships and the LA Games shape as more likely arenas for Crosbee to add to the wider family legacy.
