LISA FIAOLA CUP

Parramatta has maintained its chances of a top-two finish after outclassing Penrith 30-4 at Eric Tweedale Stadium.

Despite having a tough run of late, the Panthers kept things tight at just 8-4 at the break, before the Eels clicked into gear in the second half.

Nikita E finished with a double as the Eels piled on four tries in 14 minutes to seal the win, with them now needing Cronulla to defeat Illawarra in order to secure second spot.

TIGERS KEEP MOMENTUM ROLLING

The Wests Tigers will go storming into the finals after a stunning 42-0 defeat of Manly at Brookvale Oval.

Needing a win to wrap up a top-six spot, the Tigers were on early to jump to an 18-0 lead.

When Rhiannon Bonner scored soon after the break the result was all but known, as the Tigers continued to pile on the pain and kept their goal line safe in the process.

ILLAWARRA EARNS WEEK OFF

A dominant display has gifted Illawarra a first round finals bye after they accounted for Cronulla 38-14 at Collegians.

Despite conceding first points to the Sharks with Brooklyn Allan Kingi scoring inside two minutes, the Steelers regathered with a Tori Shipton double to lead 8-4.

Ella Greatz brought up two of her own in the second half to help the Steelers race away with the victory and cement second spot.

Felila Fakalelu posted two tries for the Sharks in a small consolation.

NEWCASTLE SNEAKS INTO FINALS

Needing a 23-point win to ensure a finals spot, Newcastle left it late, but eventually got the job done with a 46-4 win over North Sydney.

A first half double to Evie Purukamu had the Knights well on their way with a 14-0 lead at halftime, before Nyeema Tuua threw a spanner in the works to get the Bears on the board less than a minute into the second half.

Tries to Ruby Wilhelmus and Emily McArthur helped steady the ship and open up a 20-point margin with 20 minutes to play.

McArthur moments later scored her second to push the Knights into sixth spot, and when Maronay Smuts extended the margin to 32, they locked in a post-season berth.

McArthur brought up a hat-trick for good measure.

ROOSTERS NEVER HEADED IN BIG WIN

Central Coast has punched its finals ticket with an easy 44-0 defeat of South Sydney at Morry Breen Oval.

The Roosters scored with their first set with the ball through Emilee-Rose Hall and never looked back as they opened up a 20-point margin at halftime.

Souths showed some resistance to start the second half, but the Central Coast was able to pile on three quick tries to overtake the Wests Tigers and finish fourth on the ladder.

BULLDOGS TAKE OUT TOP

Canterbury finished the regular season undefeated and with an incredible points differential after smashing St George 98-0 at Kogarah.

The division’s premier team added another string to their bow as they put the game away very early on the back of first half hat-tricks to Evelyn Roberts and Kiana Vatubua and led 40-0 at the break.

Star fullback Nazlyn Waaka-Rhind continued the rout in the second half with a quick double as they brought up the half century.

Olivia Vaalele then went on to score two of her own as she finished with a personal haul of 26 points.

They looked destined to crack the century, with Vatubua’s fourth taking them to 98, however Vaalele wasn’t able to convert.

TARSHA GALE CUP

Despite missing the finals, Parramatta will take plenty of confidence from a 4-1 finish to the season after smashing Penrith 32-0.

The Eels were always in control, turning a 16-0 halftime advantage into a complete shutout.

Avena Racoma Ngata finished with two tries for the evening to improve their ladder position to seventh, just outside of the finals race.

MANLY BLITZ TOO MUCH TO HANDLE

A first half explosion has lifted Manly to a massive 66-6 win over the Wests Tigers at Brookvale Oval.

The Sea Eagles turned up in a mood, piling on seven tries including doubles to Danielle Dunlop and Taleenza Nelson to race away with a 34-0 halftime margin.

The dominance didn’t stop in the second half as Teuwira Rameka-Keremete and Danii Nicole Gray brought up doubles of their own

STEELERS SECURE TOP SPOT

Illawarra overcame a sluggish start to secure the Tarsha Gale minor premiership with a 38-4 victory against Cronulla at Collegians.

Raphaela Stojoski gave the visitors the perfect beginning with a try inside three minutes, before the Steelers hit back with three of their own to lead by eight at the break.

Rhian Yeo scored minutes into the second half and Indie Bostock completed her hat-trick soon after to help the Steelers complete an unbeaten regular season.

Bostock then went on to add a fourth to put the exclamation mark on the win.

KNIGHTS TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS

Newcastle prepared for a battle with Manly in the finals after taking down North Sydney 20-6.

Lilly McNamara proved the difference between the two sides, with the Knights winger scoring a double on either side of halftime to lock down fifth spot on the ladder.

RAIDERS THUMP RABBITOHS

The early signs were good for South Sydney, before Canberra swiftly dropped the hammer with a 60-6 hammering at Queanbeyan.

Mikayla Langer gave the Rabbitohs a dream start with a try inside two minutes, before the Raiders swiftly rushed to a 34-6 lead at the break with Elise Simpson scoring two.

Lahni Hall brought up a hat-trick while Lola Fletcher scored a double as they cracked the half century.

CANTERBURY SECURES SECOND

The Bulldogs moved into second spot on the Tarsha Gale standings after a comfortable 64-0 defeat of St George at Kogarah.

Needing a win by 28 or more points to overtake the Roosters, their intentions were clear with a commanding first half that saw them score five unanswered tries.

Pauline Suli-Ruka swiftly helped them beyond the required margin in the 32nd minute and from that point on they never looked like being headed.

HAROLD MATTHEWS CUP

With top-two spots on the line, powerhouse Harold Matts teams Parramatta and Wests were unable to be split at Eric Tweedale Stadium.

Both came into the match unbeaten and it was the Magpies who held a slight 10-6 lead at the break.

Tries in quick succession to Lincoln Fletcher and Sanjae Ulu-Kini gave the Eels a handy break coming into the closing stages.

But it was Christian Taupau-Moors who crossed the stripe in the final five minutes to keep the Magpies in top spot temporarily with a 16-all draw.

If the Bulldogs win, the Magpies will finish second and the Eels in third.

CAPTAIN’S KNOCK LEADS RABBITOHS

Souths skipper Lochlin Moses led the way to guide the Rabbitohs to a season-ending 32-22 road win over Canberra in Queanbeyan.

The second rower scored a first half double as the visitors looked the goods at 20-10 up at the break.

Canberra showed good signs throughout the second half, but Souths were always able to maintain a two-score buffer and closed out the contest to land their third win of the year.

BULLDOGS CLAIM MINOR PREMIERSHIP

It came down to the last game, but the Bulldogs finished the Harold Matts season in first after downing Melbourne 32-28 at Comely Banks.

Needing a win to leapfrog Wests and Parramatta into the minor premiership position, it was Paul Johnson who led the way with an incredible four tries in the first half to gift them a 20-6 advantage.

Zephaniah Faumuina scored quickly after halftime to keep the Storm in the contest, but Fine Fale soon pushed the lead back beyond two scores to propel the Bulldogs to top spot.

The Storm fought hard and got back to within four points at the death, but ultimately left their run too late.

NEWCASTLE TEMPORARILY INTO SIXTH

The Knights season has come to a close despite a 34-6 win over Balmain at Leichhardt Oval.

Fletcher Sommerville did his part by scoring a hat-trick in the space of 12 minutes as the visitors surged in front 18-0 through 22 minutes.

The flying winger made it four early in the second half to seal the win, however later results meant they will miss the six.

MANLY, CENTRAL COAST PLAY OUT THRILLING DRAW

In one of the most frantic finishes of the season, Manly and the Central Coast have played out a 16-all draw at Brookvale Oval.

With both teams desperate for a win to lock in a finals spot, Manly had the perfect start with Cruz Death and Beau McKee helping them to a 10-0 lead early on.

The Central Coast wouldn’t be denied, with Semi Leweniqila getting them on the board straight after the break, and Charleston Te Rore nullifying Logan Tolar’s second half try to see them trail by four with 10 minutes to play.

Te Rore surged over for his second with five minutes to play, however they couldn’t convert.

Both teams had great chances to win with a drop goal, but neither could land, meaning the Warriors are in prime position to advance.

STEELERS DENY BEARS LATE

Two tries in the final 10 minutes have helped Illawarra get out of jail 20-16 against North Sydney.

Trailing 16-8 in the 53rd minute, Axel Antony and Hayden Whatman both scored late to break the hearts of the Bears and deny the visitors their first win of the season.

SHARKS DOWN ROOSTERS IN FINALS PREVIEW

Cronulla has taken down the Roosters in an early semi-final preview, coming from behind to prevail 26-22 at Shark Park.

The Roosters raced out to an 18-0 lead through 14 minutes to take a commanding advantage, before the Sharks got themselves into the contest to trail by 12 at the break.

Quick scores to Cruz Parkin and Jaylan Herron cut the margin back to two, and then it was Oliver Lester who put the home side in front with 10 minutes to play.

The Sharks will finish in fourth with the Roosters in fifth, meaning they will face off in week one of the finals.

WARRIORS OVERCOME SLOW START TO ADVANCE

The task was an obvious one for the Warriors, win and they’re into the Harold Matthews finals.

It looked tough when they found themselves down 10-0 early, but they responded in dominant fashion to thump St George 46-10 in Pukekohe.

They had eight individual scorers in the match as they piled on four tries in the space of 16 minutes to take a 24-10 lead at halftime.

New Zealand went on with the job and will now feature in the finals in their inaugural season in the U17s.

SG BALL CUP

Parramatta has ended Western Suburbs’ season in dramatic fashion while securing their own spot in the SG Ball finals with a 30-26 victory on Good Friday.

A topsy turvy game saw the Eels race out to a 12-0 advantage, before the Magpies hit back twice before the break and took a lead of their own early in the second half.

Back-to-back tries to Elijah-Shane Tapau and Corey Leigh saw Parramatta regain a 24-16 advantage, only for Heath Mason to cut the deficit back to two approaching the final 10 minutes.

When Daniel Waqa touched down with five minutes to go it looked like the Magpies had stolen it and would advance to the finals, only for Dylan Brettle to squash their hopes with two minutes on the clock.

RABBITOHS END YEAR ON A HIGH

South Sydney kept its late season form until the very end with a comprehensive 40-18 defeat of Canberra at Redfern Oval.

Two tries in the opening five minutes set the tempo for the afternoon as they raced in eight tries to three to move them up to ninth on the ladder.

Matthew Humphries finished with a hat-trick and a 20-point haul for Souths, with Daniel Wright and Charlie Mann scoring doubles as well.

Braydan Darmody scored all 18 points for the Raiders, courtesy of a hat-trick and three conversions.

KNIGHTS POWER INTO SECOND

Newcastle has thrown the gauntlet down to St George in the race for second spot after crushing Balmain 50-10.

The Knights moved into the prized position with a hot start that saw them post six tries in the opening 35 minutes to take a dominant 34-0 lead.

Bailey Carmichael kept the scoreline ticking over with a double inside seven minutes of the second half as they raced away.

The victory means that the Dragons have to win by 35 points or more against the Warriors on Sunday if they are to climb back into second.

BULLDOGS TOO HOT FOR STORM

The Bulldogs have moved into third for the moment after downing Melbourne 40-6 in Victoria.

Despite conceding early, Canterbury hit back with three tries of their own to post an 18-6 lead at the break, capped with Bud Smith scoring right on halftime.

Sosaia Kaufusi quickly brought up his hat-trick to secure the result and keep their winning run intact, before adding a fourth in the shadows of full-time.

They now move into third spot and will hold that position if the Warriors are able to overcome St George on Sunday.

STEELERS POWER INTO FINALS SPOT

Illawarra has surged into the finals with a dominant 38-12 defeat of North Sydney at Collegians.

Needing a win to lock down a post-season position, the Steelers charged out of the blocks early and had the Bears behind by 28 at the break.

Norths showed resistance in the second half and put paid to Illawarra’s hopes of climbing into fifth.

PENRITH BOWS OUT A WINNER

It wasn’t the season the Panthers wanted, but they ended it with a positive after taking care of Manly 44-0 at Brookvale.

Penrith looked the dominant side as they piled on 20 unanswered points in the opening half and were never headed by the Sea Eagles.

Classy fullback Jaxen Edgar finished with a double.

ROOSTERS COMPLETE PERFECT SEASON

It was another win for the Sydney Roosters as they went through the SG Ball regular season undefeated.

This time they took down Cronulla 28-20 at Shark Park.

Julius Mitchell, Zach Fittler and Baxter Warner helped them take an 18-10 lead at halftime.

Warner added a second early in the second half as they opened up a matchwinning break and claimed the minor premiership.

DRAGONS PRODUCE HUGE HALF TO LAND SECOND

A second half blitz has propelled St George into a top-two spot after they downed New Zealand 54-18 in Pukekohe.

Needing to win by 35 or more points to leapfrog Newcastle and earn a first round bye in the finals, the task was made difficult by the home side as the Dragons led by just 18-12 at halftime despite a double from Tyler Peckham-Harris.

The Dragons had to pull out something special in the final 35 minutes and they did just that, with two tries to Jacob Halangahu pushing the margin out to 30 with 13 minutes remaining.

Just moments later Brandon Tikinau scored the try that pushed them beyond the required margin, something they wouldn’t relinquish for the rest of the contest.
