Bulldogs veteran Josh Reynolds has delivered a hilarious response when asked about Tom Burgess’ grab of his genitals which went unpunished.

During the Rabbitohs and Bulldogs’ Good Friday clash Reynolds stood up after tackling the English international, protesting he had tugged at his private parts.

The 33-year-old was clearly furious, however the NRL Match Review Committee decided against suspending Burgess who was deemed to have been looking the opposite direction.

Speaking to the Herald, Reynolds said he would have liked referee Gerard Sutton to blow a penalty.

“I didn’t want to see him charged, but I wouldn’t have minded a penalty,” Reynolds said.

“I’m just surprised he could find them.”

Burgess is expected to be handed a concerning act warning during the week and MRC manager Luke Patten explained why no charge was handed down.

“The MRC deemed contact as incidental and available footage was inconclusive in order to pursue a contrary conduct charge,” Patten said.

“Based on the evidence available, at all times Tom Burgess appears to be looking in a different direction and any contact did not appear deliberate.”

After the incident, Reynolds continually pleaded with the on-field referee for a penalty but instead gave one away off the next tackle for being offside.

Fans were clearly furious with Burgess’ grab and The Daily Telegraph’s Paul Crawley couldn’t believe the bustling prop escaped punishment.

“It might not be the crime of the century but when did it become acceptable behaviour to grab an opposition player’s private parts and for it to go unpunished?” Crawley wrote.

“Giant South Sydney prop Tom Burgess should go and buy himself a lottery ticket after an ugly interaction with Canterbury Bulldogs utility Josh Reynolds.

“Replays clearly show Reynolds in immediate and obvious discomfort when tackling Burgess, whose outstretched arm appeared to grab at the Bulldogs defender’s shorts.

“And regardless of if it was intentional or a complete accident, surely at the very least this incident should have been scrutinised and Burgess should be made to explain exactly what happened.

“It’s equally inexcusable that the bunker did not react to the incident during the match.”
