STORM V BULLDOGS
Injuries/reports:
* Canterbury prop Aiden Tolman came from the field in the 71st minute with a corked shin.
Talking points:
* Cheapie Kerrod Holland (79) booked his spot in the team of every active SuperCoach. He scored what turned out to be the match — sealing try, but by far the most impressive part of Holland’s effort was the 52 points in base stats, including 24 tackles and three laser-like conversions from out wide.
Highlights:
* Tohu Harris (88) was named at centre on Tuesday but switched to the back row on game day. He promptly took Perfect Eight honours, producing a try, linebreak and 42 tackles.
* Melbourne prop Jesse Bromwich (83) was a constant handful and produced another strong score. However, owners will go to bed frustrated following what could have been a MASSIVE night — he was pulled down just short of the line and denied a try assist when Cameron Smith was claimed in a trysaver.
* James Graham (71) lifted his season average to 63 and showed why he will be a popular purchase over the byes once again.
* Cameron Smith (82) boosted his usual base stats with a 40/20 and linebreak.
Lowlights:
* Halfback Moses Mbye (43) scored a runaway try, but will see another price drop after missing his 74 break even and has now relinquished the goalkicking.
* Aiden Tolman (33) spent an eternity on the bench and came off late with a corked shin. May drop to a juicy price for the byes.
Final teams:
Storm: 1 Cameron Munster 2 Young Tonumaipea 3 Will Chambers 17. Ben Hampton 5 Marika Koroibete 6 Blake Green 7 Cooper Cronk 8 Jesse Bromwich 9 Cameron Smith (c) 10 Jordan McLean 11 Kevin Proctor 4 Tohu Harris 13 Dale Finucane Interchange: 12 Kenny Bromwich 15 Tim Glasby 16 Felise Kaufusi 17 Ben Hampton 18 Nelson Asofa-Solomona
Tohu Harris will start in the back-row despite originally being named in the centres. Utility Ben Hampton has been promoted to start in the centres, with Kenny Bromwich dropping back to the bench where he is joined by Nelson Asofa-Solomona, with Christian Welch omitted.
Bulldogs: 1 Will Hopoate 2 Curtis Rona 3 Josh Morris 4 Kerrod Holland 5 Sam Perrett 6 Josh Reynolds 7 Moses Mbye 8 Aiden Tolman 9 Michael Lichaa 10 James Graham (c) 11 Josh Jackson 12 Tony Williams 13 Greg Eastwood Interchange: 14 Sam Kasiano 15 Tim Browne 16 David Klemmer 17 Adam Elliott 19 Lloyd Perrett
The Bulldogs are 1-17.
KNIGHTS V TIGERS
Injuries/reports:
* Aaron Woods (knee) limped off in the second half and didn’t return.
* Jack Stockwell (shoulder) came off in the second half and didn’t return.
* Jeremy Smith (concussion) failed a late concussion test and didn’t return.
* Sauaso Sue (concussion) initially passed a test but his condition deteriorated on return and he was ruled out for the game.
* Curtis Sironen was placed on report for a lifting tackle on Jacob Saifiti.
* Robbie Rochow (broken arm) — pre-game
* Danny Levi (back) — pre-game
Talking points:
* James Tedesco (84) showed no ill-effects from a hip injury that limited him to just one light session during the week. Teddy was simply awesome once again, notching a try, try assist, two linebreaks and the obligatory six tackle busts.
* Pat Mata’utia (25) will be the most sold player in SuperCoach next week. He covers round 12, but will start leaking cash and cheapies Kerrod Holland and Javid Bowen loom as must-haves. After averaging 64 in the first three rounds, Mata’utia has averaged just 31 in the last three weeks.
* The fifth most popular buy of the week, Daniel Saifiti (35), secured a $35,000 price rise, rewarding those who jumped on following the injury to Robbie Rochow (broken arm).
* Jacob Saifiti (31) notched a decent score despite shifting to the bench. However, he has all but peaked and looms as a trade this week for Holland or Bowen (with the right duals).
Highlights:
* Popular cheapie Jordan Rankin (87) came into the game with a 51 break even, but activated another round of price rises with a two try performance. The former Titan also took on the goalkicking duties, with Mitchell Moses nursing a groin injury.
* Robbie Farah (70) produced his best game of the year, notching 36 tackles and a smattering of attacking stats.
Lowlights:
* Aaron Woods (33) came off with a knee injury. He looms as sell for the 12 per cent who own him due to a disappointing season average of 53 and looming poor bye schedule.
Final teams:
Knights: 1 Dane Gagai 2 Nathan Ross 21 Jaelen Feeney 4 Pat Mata’utia 5 Akuila Uate 6 Jarrod Mullen 7 Trent Hodkinson 8 Sam Mataora 14 Tyler Randell 10 Korbin Sims 11 Tariq Sims 17 Pauli Pauli 13 Jeremy Smith Interchange: 15 Jack Stockwell 16 Jacob Saifiti 18 Daniel Saifiti 17 Will Pearsall
Jaelen Feeney replaces Sione Mata’utia (concussion) at centre. Pauli Pauli starts on the edge in place of Robbie Rochow (broken arm), with Daniel Saifiti added to the bench. Tyler Randell starts at hooker in place of Danny Levi (back), with Will Pearsall coming onto the bench for his NRL debut.
Tigers: 1 James Tedesco 2 David Nofoaluma 18 Nathan Milone 4 Kevin Naiqama 5 Jordan Rankin 6 Mitchell Moses 7 Luke Brooks 8 Aaron Woods (c) 9 Robbie Farah 10 Tim Grant 11 Dene Halatau 12 Chris Lawrence 13 Sauaso Sue. Interchange: 14 Curtis Sironen 15 Ava Seumanufagai 16 Joshua Aloiai 17 Kyle Lovett
James Tedesco (hip) is a confirmed starter. Nathan Milone replaces Tim Simona (suspension) at centre.
SHARKS V TITANS
Injuries/reports:
* Andrew Fifita came from the field in the 73rd minute clutching a left forearm. It’s the arm he has broken previously.
* James Maloney, Luke Lewis and Daniel Mortimer failed concussion tests and are out for the game.
* Nathan Friend passed a concussion test and came back on.
* Greg Bird was placed on report for the hit on Maloney.
Talking points:
* The rampaging Andrew Fifita (93) produced his best game of the year and will likely be updated over the century once effective offloads are added (all offloads are scored as ineffective in the live call). However, SuperCoaches will be sweating on injury news after he came from the field late.
* Plenty sold Ashley Taylor (91) this week due to a break even of 44. But he absolutely smashed that mark in a classy display and will now see a fresh set of price rises. Notched a try, linebreak, four goals and forced a massive five drop outs.
Highlights:
* Jack Bird (68) moved into the halves following the injury to Maloney and instantly turned back the clock to his debut season. The Sharks ran riot down the right — and Bird was at the centre of it all.
* Veteran Michael Ennis (80) notched two try assists, winning a captivating and often ugly feud with Greg Bird.
* Paul Gallen (67) produced a typically solid performance, all in base stats, frustrating those who were forced to sell following his early-season injury.
* Rookie Cameron Cullen (43) scored a try in a lively debut and could emerge as a cheapie down the track if the Titans have injuries in the halves.
Lowlights:
* James Maloney (7) missed two goals before going off with concussion. He has already dropped $70,000 and will plummet even further. SuperCoaches hope he bottoms out for a sneaky purchase in round 16, when he will have finished all his byes.
Final teams:
Sharks: 1 Ben Barba 2 Sosaia Feki 3 Jack Bird 4 Ricky Leutele 5 Valentine Holmes 6 James Maloney 7 Chad Townsend 8 Andrew Fifita 9 Michael Ennis 16 Matt Prior 11 Luke Lewis 12 Wade Graham 13 Paul Gallen (c). Interchange: 10 Sam Tagataese 15 Chris Heighington 17 Joseph Paulo 18 Gerard Beale
Jayson Bukuya (hand) is out, with Gerard Beale coming onto the bench. Matt Prior starts at lock, with Sam Tagataese dropping to the bench.
Titans: 19 Will Zillman 2 Anthony Don 3 Josh Hoffman 5 Nene Macdonald 1 David Mead 6 Cameron Cullen 7 Ashley Taylor 8 David Shillington 9 Nathan Friend (c) 10 Ryan James 11 Zeb Taia 12 Chris McQueen 13 Greg Bird. Interchange: 14 Luke Douglas 15 Leivaha Pulu 16 Agnatius Paasi 17 Daniel Mortimer
Will Zillman (calf) returns at fullback, with David Mead shifting to the wing, Nene Macdonald moving to centre and John Olive dropping out.
PANTHERS V COWBOYS
Injuries/reports
* Matt Scott was placed on report for a dangerous tackle on Trent Merrin. Merrin left the field after the tackle but returned soon after.
Talking points:
* Thousands of SuperCoaches will be champing at the bit to hit the trade button on Cowboys centre Javid Bowen (64). Jango, the nephew of Cowboys great Matt Bowen, again looked right at home on the big stage in just his second NRL match. The only question that remains is: will he retain his spot when Kane Linnett returns as early as next week?
* Trent Merrin (93) was back to his best after a recent illness. The Panthers lock scored a try, made 32 tackles, 6 points from offloads and 10 from line breaks in just 54 minutes of game time.
Highlights:
* Although he’s not SC relevant this year Dallin Watene-Zelezniak’s try early in the match was one for the ages. Watene-Zelezniak went on to score a double and his 84-point haul was rounded out by plenty of other attacking stats. He only made one tackle.
* While he didn’t reach his 100-point heights, Panthers off-load specialist Bryce Cartwright was again in the thick of it with 67 points, including a try assist and 26 tackles. Cowboys forward Gavin Cooper was also prominent with a try-inflated 73 points.
Lowlights:
* It would be hard to get a smile out of those who made Johnathan Thurston (35) captain this week. Although he didn’t play a bad game, it didn’t translate to SuperCoach points and the best halves option in the game couldn’t get anywhere near his average of 69.
* Josh Mansour (29) had his lowest haul for the season, recording unusually low base and attacking stats. And, although he had a break-even of 0, popular Panthers young gun Te Maire Martin (27) was also quiet.
Final teams:
Panthers: 1. Matt Moylan 2. Josh Mansour 3. Waqa Blake 4. Peta Hiku 5. Dallin Watene Zelezniak 6. Te Maire Martin 7. Jamie Soward 8. Sam McKendry 9. Peter Wallace 10. Regan Campbell-Gillard 11. Bryce Cartwright 12. Isaah Yeo 13. Trent Merrin Interchange: 21. Jeremy Latimore 15. Leilani Latu 16. Suaia Matagi 17. James Fisher-Harris
Elijah Taylor and Tyrone Peachey drop off the final bench, with Jeremy Latimore in.
Cowboys:
1. Lachlan Coote 2. Kyle Feldt 3. Justin O’Neill 4. Javid Bowen 5. Antonio Winterstein 6. Michael Morgan 7. Johnathan Thurston 8. Matthew Scott 14. Rory Kostjasyn 10. James Tamou 11. Gavin Cooper 12. Ethan Lowe 13. Jason Taumalolo Interchange: 9. Jake Granville 15. John Asiata 16. Scott Bolton 17. Ben Hannant
Just the weekly change of Rory Kostjasyn starting in place of Jake Granville.
WARRIORS V SEA EAGLES
Injuries/reports
* Dylan Walker was placed on report for an attempted trip.
* Ryan Hoffman was placed on report for a high shot.
* Tom Symonds left the field for a concussion test with 12 minutes to play and didn’t return.
Talking points
* Manly hooker/halfback convert Apisai Koroisau (92) has just become SuperCoach relevant. He was allowed to do as he pleased by the Warriors and followed his best-on-field 104-point round five performance with another polished display. He scored 36 points from try assists, 12 from forced drop outs and also made 26 tackles. There’s now a big chance he’ll keep his spot in the team when Daly Cherry-Evans returns from injury.
* Despite his juicy price Manly centre Steve Matai (83) is not a SuperCoach option this year. Having said that, he did light up the SuperCoach scoreboard against the Warriors, including two tries, 10 points from tackles busts and 10 points from line breaks. Don’t even think about it.
Highlights
* Issac Luke (78) played his second 80-minute match for the season and his stats and SuperCoach score reflected it. To the delight of 24% of coaches he scored a try, a try assist, had 28 tackles and 10 points from line breaks in a well-beaten team.
* Manly lock Jake Trbojevic (67) came back after missing one game with a knee injury and picked upfrom where he leftoff, with 30 tackles and a try assist. Since shifting to lock in Round 2, Trbojevic, who is owned by 11% of coaches, has averaged 77 minutes and 66 points per game.
Lowlights
* Trade target Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (28) had a quiet game and failed to reach his break-even score. Which is good if you haven’t got him yet and not so great if you bought him in this week.
* If you’re one of the 20% of SuperCoaches who have Brenton Lawrence (29), this was the week you didn’t want him on the field. He only played 21 minutes and failed to make an impact.
Final teams:
Warriors: 1 Roger Tuivasa-Sheck 2 Tuimoala Lolohea 3 Blake Ayshford 4 Solomone Kata 5 Jonathan Wright 6 Shaun Johnson 7 Jeff Robson 8 Jacob Lillyman 9 Issac Luke 10 Ben Matulino 11 Simon Mannering 12 Ryan Hoffman (c) 13 Sam Lisone Interchange 15 Albert Vete 16 Charlie Gubb 17 Konrad Hurrell 18 Thomas Leuluai
Thomas Leuluai’s return for his first NRL game since Round 10 last year means rookie Jazz Tevega drops off the extended bench.
Sea Eagles: 1 Brett Stewart 2 Jorge Taufua 3 Jamie Lyon (c) 4 Steve Matai 5 Tom Trbojevic 6 Dylan Walker 7 Apisai Koroisau 16 Darcy Lussick 9 Matt Parcell 10 Nate Myles 11 Tom Symonds 12 Martin Taupau 13 Jake Trbojevic Interchange 8 Josh Starling 14 Lewis Brown 15 Brenton Lawrence 17 Siosaia Vave
Jake Trbojevic returns at lock, Darcy Lussick starts at prop and Josh Starling moves back to the bench.
EELS V RAIDERS
Injuries/reports:
* Frank-Paul Nuuausala passed a concussion test early in the first half and returned to field but then sat out much of the second half.
* Tepai Moeroa passed a concussion test in the first half.
* Josh Hodgson injured his thumb and left the field for tests midway through the first half but returned midway through the second half.
* Shaun Fensom was reported for a dangerous tackle early in the second half and left the field at the 70th minute after coming up groggily from a tackle.
* Kieran Foran left the field as a precaution late in the second half after copping a hit to the chin.
Talking points:
* The Eels halves combination of Corey Norman and recruit Kieran Foran is starting to cause some giant headaches for opposition sides. The good news for SuperCoaches is that their slick work will not only help their own SuperCoach scores but is giving other Parramatta players plenty of try-scoring opportunities.
* Parramatta offers the best bye coverage of any team this year. If they keep playing as they did against a Canberra side who are no pushovers, SuperCoaches can start bringing Eels players into their team before Round 12 with a degree of confidence.
* The 12% of SuperCoaches who own Canberra tackling machine Shaun Fensom (44) will be sweating on the vaugeries of the judiciary next week after he was reported for a dangerous tackle.
* Eels hooker Nathan Peats returned from injury with a solid 43 points, mainly in base stats.
Highlights
* Having lost his owners $46k this season, Eels five-eighth Corey Norman (86) looks to be back to his best. He was sharp, combined well with halves partner Kieren Foran (81) and finished with 48 points from try assists.
* Michael Jennings (61) blasted out of the blocks with a try inside the first five minutes and followed up with another not long after. He was the main beneficiary of Norman and Foran’s slick play in the middle.
Lowlights
* Not a bad score but the 20% of SuperCoaches who own Michael Gordon (43) would have been understandably disappointed he didn’t make his break-even (44). It was raining tries for the Eels and he didn’t miss a conversion.
* Semi Radradra (18) continues to leak cash for 12% of SuperCoaches. With no points from attacking stats again this week he should fall below $400k.
Final teams:
Eels: 1 Michael Gordon 2 Semi Radradra 3 Michael Jennings 4 Brad Takairangi 5 Clint Gutherson 6 Corey Norman 7 Kieran Foran (c) 8 Junior Paulo 9 Nathan Peats 10 Daniel Alvaro 11 Manu Ma’u 12 Beau Scott 13 Tepai Moeroa Interchange 14 Isaac De Gois 15 Peni Terepo 16 Danny Wicks 17 Ken Edwards
The Eels are as named on Tuesday.
Raiders: 1 Jack Wighton 2 Edrick Lee 3 Jarrod Croker (c) 4 Joseph Leilua 5 Jordan Rapana 6 Blake Austin 7 Aidan Sezer 16 Paul Vaughan 9 Josh Hodgson 10 Frank-Paul Nuuausala 11 Josh Papalii 12 Elliott Whitehead 13 Shaun Fensom Interchange 8 Shannon Boyd 14 Kurt Baptiste 15 Luke Bateman 17 Joseph Tapine
Shannon Boyd moves to the bench with Michael Vaughan starting at prop the only change.
RABBITOHS V ROOSTERS
Injuries/reports:
* Sio Siua Taukeiaho left the field in the first half with a knee injury and didn’t return.
* Kane Evans passed a concussion test in the second half.
* Kyle Turner left the field for a concussion test and didn’t return.
* Kirisome Auva’a also suffered a concussion late in the second half.
* Greg Inglis stayed down injured with what looked to be a leg injury after the Dylan Napa try, but stayed on the field.
Talking points:
* Rabbitohs halfback Adam Reynolds didn’t return from a broken jaw, meaning Cody Walker (56) had one more week to audition for a spot in the halves. He was unable to spark a lacklustre Rabbitohs outfit, but did earn a consolation try in the dying stages of the match. He also notched up 4 tackle busts, a forced drop out and 13 tackles.
* After much speculation about his job security, Rabbitohs backrower Paul Carter (34) was a surprise inclusion on the bench. In 36 minutes, the backrower made 17 tackles and one tackle bust.
Highlights:
* Dylan Napa (88) was at his rampaging best for the Roosters. In a dominant 80 minute showing, he scored a try, ran for 141 metres, had three tackle busts, one offload and made 40 tackles — some of which Souths players will still be feeling over the weekend.
* Roosters hooker Jake Friend (89) had his best game for the season. He made 50 tackles, had two tackle busts, forced a drop out, made a line break and registered a try assist as he led his side to their first win of the season.
Lowlights:
* SuperCoach chatter about Sio Siua Taukeiaho (21) was beginning to get louder but unfortunately for the backrower he left the game with a knee injury and didn’t return. He was on the field for about 25 minutes, where he made 11 tackles and had one offload.
* Roosters cheapie Jayden Nikorima’s score suffered as a result of him coming off the bench. He only managed 10 points from 53 minutes of play, where he made nine tackles and offered nothing in attack.
Final teams:
Rabbitohs: 1 Greg Inglis (c) 2 Bryson Goodwin 3 Kirisome Auva’a 4 Hymel Hunt 5 Aaron Gray 6 Cody Walker 7 Luke Keary 8 George Burgess 9 Cameron McInnes 10 Sam Burgess 11 Chris Grevsmuhl 12 Kyle Turner 13 Nathan Brown Interchange 14 Damien Cook 15 Jason Clark 17 Thomas Burgess 18 Paul Carter
Adam Reynolds has not named after speculation he could be ready to return from a broken jaw. Paul Carter has been promoted to the bench, with Dave Tyrrell a late omission
Roosters: 1 Latrell Mitchell 2 Daniel Tupou 3 Brendan Elliot 4 Blake Ferguson 5 Shaun Kenny-Dowall 12 Aidan Guerra 7 Jackson Hastings 8 Sam Moa 9 Jake Friend (c) 10 Dylan Napa 11 Mitchell Aubusson 14 Isaac Liu 13 Sio Siua Taukeiaho Interchange 6 Jayden Nikorima 15 Kane Evans 17 Eloni Vunakece 24 Abraham Papalii
Backrower Aidan Guerra has been named to start at five-eighth with Jayden Nikorina coming off the bench. Isaac Liu promoted into the starting side in place of Guerra. Abraham Papalii will makes his debut for the Roosters.
BRONCOS V DRAGONS
Injuries/reports:
* Benji Marshall (hamstring) was ruled out pre-game.
* Gareth Widdop was hit with a grade one tripping charge but can escape a ban with an early guilty plea.
Talking points:
* SuperCoach great Corey Parker (65) notched another typically solid score. But most importantly, he resumed the kicking duties from Jordan Kahu after relinquishing them last week due to a head knock, notching 20 points in goals.
* After a slow start to the year, Ben Hunt (79) produced his second big score in a row, notching three try assists. He outscored Anthony Milford for the second week running and offers round 12 coverage following his Origin ban.
Highlights:
* In-form Anthony Milford (62) notched a try, try assist and two linebreak assists in another strong game.
* He wasn’t quite the VC loophole candidate Anthony Minichiello was looking for, but Corey Oates (57) managed a try and linebreak, beating his break even by 17 points and scoring another price rise.
* Owners of Josh Dugan (56) would be impressed after he posted a strong score in a well-beaten side, mostly in base stats.
* Dragons hooker Mitch Rein (56) played 75 minutes, which is also his season average. With Siliva Havilii left out, Rein is guaranteed big game time and could challenge the likes of Nathan Peats and Josh Hodgson as bye period purchases at hooker.
LISTEN TO OUR ROUND 6 SUPERCOACH PODCAST
Lowlights:
* Matt Gillett (39) played the full 80 minutes but his workrate was way down, producing his worst score of the year.
* Broncos centre James Roberts (30) was clearly hampered by the hip injury he brought into the game.
Final teams:
Broncos: 1 Darius Boyd 2 Corey Oates 3 Jack Reed 4 James Roberts 5 Jordan Kahu 6 Anthony Milford 7 Ben Hunt 8 Josh McGuire 9 Andrew McCullough 10 Adam Blair 11 Alex Glenn 12 Matt Gillett 13 Corey Parker (c). Interchange: 14 Jarrod Wallace 15 Sam Thaiday 16 Joe Ofahengaue 17 Kodi Nikorima
No changes, with James Roberts (hip) and Jarrod Wallace (hamstring) both cleared.
Dragons: 1 Josh Dugan 2 Peter Mata’utia 3 Euan Aitken 4 Tim Lafai 5 Jason Nightingale 6 Gareth Widdop (c) 18 Josh McCrone 8 Leeson Ah Mau 9 Mitch Rein 10 Russell Packer 11 Tyson Frizell 12 Joel Thompson 13 Jack De Belin. Interchange: 14 Mike Cooper 15 Will Matthews 17 Jake Marketo 21 Dunamis Lui
Benji Marshall (hamstring) is replaced by Josh McCrone at halfback. Siliva Havili is replaced by Dunamis Lui on the bench.
