The Broncos will be without skipper Adam Reynolds for another week after he suffered an injury setback. Find out who’s in and who’s out for your team in Round 12.

Adam Reynolds’ injury saga has continued with Brisbane’s champion playmaker again ruled out in a blow for the Broncos ahead of Friday night’s derby showdown with the Titans.

Reynolds missed last week’s thumping win over the Knights with groin soreness and now a fresh hamstring concern will see him sidelined as the Broncos shoot for a sixth consecutive win against the Gold Coast at Suncorp Stadium.

The Broncos skipper was hopeful of being fit to face the Titans, only to suffer another setback on Tuesday when he experienced hamstring tightness which forced him to finish training early at Red Hill.

The Broncos insist the injury is not serious, with Reynolds to be rested as a precaution — opening the door for playmaking young gun Ezra Mam to answer a scrumbase SOS for the second consecutive week.

The Broncos got the job done without Reynolds in Newcastle, flogging the Knights 36-12, and coach Kevin Walters is backing Mam to fire in the No.7 jumper after two try assists in a nerveless debut at McDonald Jones Stadium.

Mam was presented with his maiden Broncos jumper by Reynolds and the 19-year-old Indigenous playmaker said he felt comfortable with the pace of the NRL after his eleventh-hour promotion against the Knights.

“It was pretty fast at the start, but once I got into the game, it slowed down for me a bit,” Mam said. “I started feeling like I had more time out there in the second half, so it was pleasing to get through the game and I want to build from here.

“To get my jumper from ‘Reyno’ was pretty special.

“While I train with him every day, I really look up to him because he is such a great player.

“One of my goals eventually is to be a regular first grader. I still have a long way to go, but it (his debut against the Knights) was a good first step and hopefully I can break into the team consistently.”

Reynolds came under fire for partying at Brisbane casino following the Broncos’ 38-0 Magic Round drubbing of Manly.

Since his alcohol-fuelled night out, Reynolds has missed two games due to separate minor injuries, but the Broncos are confident Mam is up to the task after combining well with Tyson Gamble in the halves to sink the Knights.

Broncos lock Pat Carrigan said Brisbane have vivid memories of their round 2 encounter last year, when David Fifita scored two tries to inspire the Titans’ 28-16 victory at Robina.

“There’s a few old Broncos boys at the Titans like Dave Fifita, so they always get up for it in the middle of the park,” Carrigan said. “We beat them at home last year but they embarrassed us down there on the Goldie, so the derby is always a good test.”

Meantime, Titans weapon David Fifita is pushing to make a last-ditch bid for State of Origin selection by attempting to return from a knee injury against the Broncos on Friday night.

Fifita is set to be named in an extended squad for the Queensland derby at Suncorp Stadium.

The bustling backrower has missed the past three games after suffering a medial ligament injury in the Gold Coast’s round 8 loss to Penrith.

But he is racing the clock to get back on the park for the last game before Queensland coach Billy Slater picks his Origin I team.
