Souths’ major blow as Jai Arrow could miss season with injury

South Sydney is bracing for more bad news on the injury front as another key Rabbitoh faces an extended stint on the sidelines.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs are facing losing Origin back-rower Jai Arrow for the season and are awaiting a surgeon’s findings on his rotator cuff injury.

The Daily Telegraph reported Arrow injured his rotator cuff in Souths’ Las Vegas opener against Manly and is anxiously awaiting the results.

The best-case scenario is a four-week recovery, but should Arrow require surgery it will would rule him out for the entire 2024 season.

Souths have already lost star centre Campbell Graham to a sternum injury that looks set to sideline him for six months.

If Arrow was to miss the rest of the season on the back of Graham’s injury it would be a massive blow to Souths’ title hopes.

Souths are already without Jack Wighton suspended until Round 3 and winger Tyrone Munro, who was injured in the pre-season and is making his way back.

Souths face the Broncos and the Roosters in the next fortnight and could be looking at an 0-3 start to their campaign.

Coach Jason Demetriou is already under pressure after Souths’ dismal fade-out last season that saw them go from first after 11 rounds to miss the finals.

The 28-year-old Queensland forward played just 14 games last year after battling injuries.

A second injury-plagued season would be a massive blow for Arrow and Souths’ premiership hopes.
