NSW star Jaime Chapman has gone public after becoming the victim of a deepfake AI attack.
The Gold Coast Titans winger on Monday hit out after seeing doctored images of herself swirling around cyberspace, with police now investigating.
The 23-year-old told her 86,000 Instagram followers it was not the first time images she has shared on social media have been distorted through deepfake AI programs.

Her Instagram post showed a high rise photo of a beach and an inset image, believed to be the fake AI image, of herself posing for a mirror selfie in a golden bikini.
It was a public plea for whoever is responsible to stop, however at this stage it remains unclear what the fake AI images are being used for.
“Have a good day to everyone except those who make fake ai photos of other people,” she posted.
She also wrote: “Next time think of how damaging this can be to someone and their loved ones.
“This has happened a few times now and it needs to stop.”
Alongside the bikini pic Chapman wrote: “AI is scary these days”.
The Gold Coast Titans released a statement on Tuesday afternoon, stating they are working alongside the NRL Integrity Unit and NSW Police to trace the origin of the deepfake AI doctored images.
It’s understood the police have launched an investigation into the images.
“Jaime is an incredible role mode for not just our club, but for the game as a whole,” Titans CEO Steve Mitchell said in a statement.
“Not only is she a star on the field with the Titans and the Blues, but her continued work in the community is exemplary as she continues to inspire young girls of all ages on and off the field.
“It’s hugely disappointing to see her victimised in this way and we will continue to support Jaime and work with the NRL and authorities on this matter.
“We will always stand up to online bullying and the creation of such defamatory false content that Jaime has been subjected to, and I wholeheartedly join with her in condemning those who have produced such vile material.”
It is an unwanted distraction for Chapman to deal with as she prepares to suit up for Women’s State of Origin Game 2 at Allianz Stadium on Thursday night.
The Blues won the series opener 32-12 at Suncorp Stadium on May 1 and can secure the series win with victory on Thursday.
Chapman is currently in a relationship with Dolphins star Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow with the pair going public with their romance in December.
She has been playing for the Titans for three seasons after previous stints with the Sharks, Dragons and Broncos.
It has been a turbulent 2025 for Chapman, who has made a miraculous recovery after fracturing her back playing for the Indigenous All Stars less than three months ago.
Chapman was back on the field last month after recovering from a fracture in her L2 vertebrae in her lower lumbar spine.
She was worried at the time of the injury that her entire season was over.
“I’ve never broken a bone before so pretty hectic one for a first bone break,” she told Code Sports.
“But it was quite painful. I played through it not knowing I had a broken bone and then I got a scan when I got home and I couldn’t move very much.
“I was quite shocked because I could still do most of the movements but the way I pulled up I was extremely sore the next day. I knew something was wrong.
“I didn’t really know what to think of it and I was pretty stressed about will I play Origin, will I be OK for NRLW, but I guess it sounds worse than it actually was. I was very lucky with the type of break that it was and where it was.”
Tabuai-Fidow in February said his “pretty special” relationship with Chapman was the main reason he felt more comfortable entering the 2025 season than any other previous year.
The only problem the adorable couple face is their state allegiances.
Tabuai-Fidow has been a point-scoring machine for Queensland in recent years, giving Chapman a headache to decide who she should be cheering for.
“I’ll support him no matter what he does and no matter what team he plays for I’ll be going for him, but not the Maroons,” she said in February.
“It’s quite hard when you’re both in the spotlight and when we came out as being together it was a pretty good response from the community. We’ve been really good and really happy.”
