Sydney roosters star Luke Keary looks set to reject a bid by French Super League side Catalans to convince him to backflip on retirement.
Reports emerged in England overnight that Keary had been locked in discussions with the French club and their coach Steve McNamara, who was formerly on the coaching staff at the Roosters.
Keary announced in April that he would retire at the end of the season despite having another year remaining on his deal at the Sydney powerhouse.
Reports out of England, however, suggested Keary had held discussions with Catalans over a final fling in Super League.
The reports suggested an agreement was close to being reached. However, this masthead has been told that Keary, who has been in red-hot form for the Roosters in recent weeks and has retained his place in the extended NSW squad for the second game of the State of Origin series, is unlikely to change his mind on retirement.
