Nathan Hindmarsh believes Parramatta Eels should release underperforming Dylan Brown immediately

Eels legend Nathan Hindmarsh believes enough is enough for the underperforming Dylan Brown at Parramatta, saying the club should cut ties with the playmaker immediately.

Confusion reigns over Brown's clauses

Eels legend Nathan Hindmarsh believes the club should release Dylan Brown immediately.

Brown’s performances for the Eels have come under the microscope in recent weeks following his decision to accept a massive $13 million 10-year deal from Newcastle, beginning next season.

With captain Mitchell Moses injured, Brown has been asked to steer the Eels during a poor 0-3 start to the season.

Hindmarsh, the longest-serving Parramatta player of all-time and who is hugely protective of the club, said during The Bye Round podcast discussion with James Graham that it’s got a point that the club should let Brown go.

“We spoke the other week about Dylan Brown and possibly, is it better to just move him on?’’ Hindmarsh said.

“I’m getting to that point now where it makes sense.

“It does make sense. He’s not offering much at the Eels.

“I’ve never been in that position (immense spotlight) before. I’ve never felt that pressure before.

“It was easy for me to do my job, cart the ball up, tackle someone.

“Where he’s (Brown) got to organise the whole shit show that it is at the moment.

“I want to see more from him.

“Yeah the pressure has come in now that he’s signed with the Knights on that huge deal, but I think regardless anyway, the pressure would’ve been there without the huge price tag for next year.’’

Graham added that he felt Brown was playing “scared”.

“He’s on a good wicket (salary) now, you kind of need to be showing a little bit more now,’’ Graham said.

“Honestly, I feel watching him that he’s scared to fail.

“And scared to make a mistake.

“Nathan Cleary, the best halfback in the game, he makes mistakes. He’s not afraid to make mistakes.

“Where I feel Dylan Brown has gone into his shell and he’s shitting himself about making a mistake.’’
