Jaeman Salmon reignites ‘weak gutted dog’ feud with Ricky Stuart

A Canterbury Bulldogs star has reignited one of the league’s most fiery feuds with a blistering spray as he celebrated a try on Saturday.

Salmon's "WEAK GUTTED DOG" celebration

Canterbury lock Jaeman Salmon has continued his long-running feud with Canberra coach Ricky Stuart with a stunning swipe.

Salmon didn’t miss as he celebrated a try on Saturday as the Bulldogs ran over the top of the Raiders to record the 32-20 victory.

The 26-year-old scored in the 47th minute and immediately pointed to the Dogs crest on his jersey as he mouthed the words “weak-gutted dog” towards the camera.

Despite the camera not actually picking up the audio, it was clear as day what Salmon was saying down the barrel.

The remark goes back to August 2022 when Stuart savaged the then Panthers player in a post-game press conference.

“I have had history with that kid (Salmon). I know that kid very well.

“He was a weak gutted dog as a kid and he hasn’t changed now. He is a weak gutted dog person now.”

The long-running feud was reignited during Magic Round when a fan in the stands shouted out that Salmon was a “weak-gutted dog” to Stuart who reacted with a sly chuckle.

Stuart was asked about Salmon’s pointed celebration during his post-game press conference with the Raiders coach delivering a blunt response.

“Honestly. How much do you really think I care about that?” Stuart said.

Salmon and the Dogs however got the last laugh on Saturday as they overturned a 20-0 deficit in a blistering second half display.

Skipper Stephen Crichton produced a masterclass display as he led his side back into the contest before they ran over the top of their rivals in the top of the table clash.

After scoring a brilliant individual try, Crichton continued to cut the Raiders defensive line apart with the home side rendered helpless.

After the game Crichton revealed a half time serve from coach Cameron Ciraldo led to the massive resurgence.

“It’s a rollercoaster. We didn’t start the way we wanted to in the first half, and kind of just gifted them field position and possession of the ball as well,” Crichton said.

“We went into halftime, it was seventy-thirty per cent their way and you can’t in a footy game, if you’re dropping the ball and giving away penalties.

“So, we just wanted to change our mindset there, come out with a little bit of an edge as well and coach gave us a bit of a spray in there too.

“So, the reaction that the boys to come out and stay process driven there as well, is a big thing for us.”
