‘His best is clearly in front of him’: Big win for the Bulldogs as Jacob Kiraz signs lengthy new deal

Powerful outside back Jacob Kiraz has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the Bulldogs until the end of the 2027 season in a huge show of faith towards the club.

Kiraz had one year left to run on his current deal and could have fielded offers from rival clubs if he hit the open market on November 1, but the local junior has instead decided to stay put.

The 21-year-old had a hot start to the 2023 season and was leading the Dally M standings after three rounds before things slowed down for Kiraz and Canterbury.

Kiraz scored six tries from 19 appearances last season, busted 69 tackles and had the fifth-most offloads in the NRL despite missing several games due to injury.

His commitment to the club is a huge boost heading into pre-season training given they won just seven games and finished with the worst defensive record under new coach Cameron Ciraldo.

“Jacob has been one of the shining lights of the past couple of years and thoroughly deserves his new contract,” general manager of football Phil Gould said.

“His best is clearly in front of him.”
