Dragons duo Zac Lomax and Talatau Amone have been involved in a training bust-up as tensions boiled over during a three-day camp on the NSW south coast.

But the club has downplayed the drama, stating it was just “some competitive fire” between teammates at a session in Mollymook.

The Daily Telegraph reported Lomax and Amone were involved in a heated scuffle, with a fan capturing the tense exchange on TikTok during a one-hour open training run.

Lomax reportedly took exception to a big hit from Amone, before the Dragons backline stars quickly moved on from the incident, which saw the whole squad come together to break up the scuffle.

The Sydney Morning Herald spoke with Dragons CEO Ryan Webb after the confrontation, who said he wasn’t disappointed in the fire shown by players.

“I’d put it down to nothing more than the boys showing some competitive fire, which is what you want to see from the boys, if I’m being honest,” Webb told the Herald.

“It bubbled over, two young guys got a bit overzealous, everyone separated them, they kept training for another half-hour and everyone was mates afterwards.”

The scuffle comes just two months after Dragons star Ben Hunt branded teammates “disrespectful” for being no-shows at the end-of-season presentation night.

Hunt, Lomax and Michael Molo were the only three players present, with 27 teammates absent.

The passion and intensity at a training session is a positive sign as the Dragons aim to break back into the top eight next season after two sub par years under coach Anthony Griffin.

In April, Lomax was hit with a $1,000 fine for contrary conduct after jumping on the back of former teammate and Newcastle forward Tyson Frizell during a try celebration.

The Dragons returned to their home base in Wollongong on Friday, before travelling to Sydney on Monday for an opposed session with the NSW Waratahs at NSW Rugby’s new $20m centre of excellence in Daceyville.
