THE Broncos’ discipline was strangely lacking, but Ben Hunt’s brilliance was on show against the Rabbitohs — check out five things we learned.

THE Broncos continued their ominous run of form as they turned on the style to put South Sydney away at Suncorp Stadium.

Here’s what we learned from their 30-8 victory.

1. The Broncos went into the game as the most disciplined team in the competition, conceding just 5.1 penalties a game, but let that slip a little with Joe Ofahengaue and Adam Blair placed on report.

2. Brisbane have always enjoyed healthy crowds but last year’s success has flowed into this season, especially with 40,275 turning out to see a struggling South Sydney side.

Channel 9 commentator Phil Gould summed it up perfectly: “Brisbane people find an excuse to come to the football. Sydneysiders find an excuse to stay home.”

3. Andrew McCullough is a huge loss for the Broncos if he is sidelined for an extended period with a knee injury.

Kodi Nikorima is handy at dummy-half but probably isn’t capable of wearing the No. 9 jersey long-term, meaning Travis Waddell will likely come into the equation.

4. Ben Hunt has all the organising characteristics needed to be a great halfback but it’s his ad-lib play that’s the most exciting part of his game.

Hunt produced a great break to nearly put Corey Oates over and his step to avoid Sam Burgess was a classy play.

5. Broncos winger Corey Oates scored the most remarkable try to take another step towards a Queensland State of Origin jersey.

The way Oates kept his body in play while being tackled just centimetres from the sideline was magical.
