The Brisbane Broncos have launched a historic new playing kit which will see the club’s NRL and NRLW teams wear the same jersey for the first time.
The Broncos revealed their 2025 and 2026 jerseys on Wednesday, its first new home kit in two years.
It will be the first time the club’s men’s and women’s teams wear the same strip.
The Broncos said the jersey was “a modern twist on the 2000 Grand Final jersey, 25 years on”, however there is a distinct lack of yellow on the new kit and a shift to predominantly maroon.
Prop Payne Haas, who is recovering from foot surgery, said he was honoured to wear a Broncos jersey ahead of his eighth NRL season.
“Obviously you think of all the great teams and people that came before us,” he said.
“All I’ve known is the Broncos and playing for them and seeing how much the city gets behind us.
“Watching the boys the last few weeks now and it’s been pretty tough but (we’ll) lay our foundation now and see the fruits of our labour next year.”
The Broncos said the jersey drew parallels with 2000 due to a “double stripe design across the chest, gold on the sleeve trim and white trim on the sides”.
Broncos NRLW star Romy Teitzel said it was an exciting new jersey.
“It makes you realise what it means to be a Bronco. People remember what happened in that jersey whether it was in 2024 or moving forward,” she said.
“As a playing group we enjoy having new kit too because it’s a little bit of a fresh start and it’s something we can build our legacy into as well.
“It’s pretty special to see that people are wearing the merch and wearing the jerseys both in and out of seasons, it shows how much support we have as a club.
“Our whole goal as a club is to win premierships and that’s what we strive for.”
