It’s all over for Brandon Smith at the Sydney Roosters, with the club granting the injured hooker an immediate release ahead of his move to cross-town rivals South Sydney.

Gutted Cheese has played last for Chooks

Brandon Smith is on his way to South Sydney after being officially granted an immediate release by the Sydney Roosters.

Smith, who made 41 appearances for the Roosters before a knee injury sidelined him last season, is expected to begin train with the Rabbitohs as he targets a return next month.

The New Zealand international is expected to provide cover at hooker and in the back row for Souths.

“We appreciate Brandon’s contributions over the last two and a half years, he was playing some very good football before he was sidelined by his knee injury,” Roosters head of recruitment Daniel Anderson, said:

“With his return to play not too far away, we thank Brandon and extend our best wishes in the next chapter of his career.”
