309-game Dragons veteran set for shock retirement reveal

Veteran hooker Andrew McCullough is set to call time on his 16-year career.
That is according to a News Corp report which claims the 32-year-old will officially retire before the Dragons return to pre-season training.

McCullough still has one year left on his contract with the Dragons, whom he joined in 2021 after one season with the Knights.
Prior to the Knights McCullough spent 13 years with the Broncos, making his debut in 2008 and notching up 260 games for the club.
He was released early in the 2020 season to join Newcastle but a serious hamstring injury hampered him to just eight games for the club.
McCullough reunited with former Broncos coach Anthony Griffin on the eve of the 2021 season and became the club’s first choice hooker after Cameron McInnes suffered an ACL injury during pre-season.
News Corp reports McCullough has been thinking about calling time ever since the 2022 season wrapped up and has begun informing his teammates of the decision.
Waiting until the off-season to make the decision means McCullough missed out on a farewell game in the final round of last season — ironically it would have been against the Broncos.
The Dragons are not expected to hit the market for another dummy half given former Tiger Jacob Liddle has joined the club for 2023. He will go up against utility Moses Mbye for the No.9 jersey, while Jayden Sullivan is also an option.
McCullough has played 309 NRL games across three clubs and represented Queensland four times.
