LAKERS forward Metta World Peace is not holding back when it comes to Lamar Odom’s estranged in-laws.
“I hated everyone that knew Lamar that’s not from Queens,” the outspoken NBA star reveals during a candid interview with VladTV, following his longtime friend’s life-threatening overdose. “I mean you’ve got somebody you grew up with on a death bed, I don’t even know how else you could feel.”
World Peace admits he was a “little bit bitter towards the Kardashians” despite not knowing the full context of Odom’s situation, but his animosity stretched beyond the reality stars.
“I was bitter towards every single one of his friends in LA without knowing the situation, because there were reports that my buddy isn’t going to make it,” said World Peace, who is back on the Lakers this season.
With Odom back in California after being transported from a Las Vegas hospital, World Peace says he took it personally upon hearing the Kardashians reportedly were restricting Odom’s visitors.
“I didn’t really know that he was still married to Khloe. I just wanted my buddy’s children to be next to him and everything,” said World Peace, who grew up battling Odom as two of the top prep hoopsters in Queens. “I took it personal. I still take it personal to this day.”
The Los Angeles Daily News reported World Peace planned to visit Odom in the hospital Wednesday night, with his condition improved enough to receive the NBA guest. After being found unconscious at a Nevada brothel in mid-October, Odom remains in intensive care where he reportedly receives six hours of dialysis a day, in addition to physical therapy.
World Peace said Lakers teammate Kobe Bryant was “furious” when he heard the news about Odom.
“Kobe supports Lamar. When Kobe found out Lamar was in the hospital, he was furious. I was in tears,” he said. “It was right before a game. … Kobe FaceTimes Lamar, Kobe tried to reach out to Lamar plenty of times before this incident happened. I was reaching out to Lamar, and sometimes Lamar won’t text back. And we still support Lamar. That’s our boy. Through thick, through thin, negative, positive, I support Lamar 100 per cent.”
