As the Western Clydesdales bid for inclusion into the Intrust Super Cup takes another step towards becoming a reality, we asked The Chronicle readers to pick their fantasy team for 2023.
A list of more than 70 players born or playing on the Darling Downs was put forward to choose from, and the results are in.
Goondiwindi’s David Armstrong attracted the highest percentage of the vote, with 43 percent electing him as their choice at fullback.
Young guns Sam Elara (19 percent) and Jordan Lipp (15 percent) headed up the votes for outside backs, along with Cory McGrady (20 percent) and Josh Chappell (13 percent) in the halves.
New Sydney Roosters recruit Xavier Va’a was another strong vote getter with 37 percent along with Jordan Crocker (13 percent) in the front row and Cory Paix (31 percent) at hooker.
Mitch Carpenter (12 percent), Ben White (12 percent) and Travis Waddell (28 percent) made up the back row.
Goondiwindi and Southern Suburbs were best represented with four players each, Highfields had three players and Pittsworth and Valleys had two apiece.
