It will an acute case of agony and ecstasy for Albury Public School after remarkably reaching both the girls and boys grand finals of the Paul Kelly Cup in Sydney on Wednesday.
Sharing the spoils, Albury beat Henschke Catholic Primary School in the boys division and were narrowly beaten by St Lukes Grammar in the girls.
Albury boys jumped last year’s champions from the outset, building a handy seven-point lead at halftime.
They extended the margin just after break with another goal to virtually put the game out of reach in the wet conditions at the annual schools footy knockout.
Henschke did pull back a late goal, but the Albury boys were the better team in their 2.4 (16) to 1.0 (6) victory.

Meanwhile, relentless determination has paid off for St Luke’s Grammar School in the girls’ playoff.
The Northern Beaches outfit refused to wilt under Albury’s clear superiority in the air.
Breaking through with the first goal just minutes into the contest, St Luke’s then denied Albury at every opportunity.
Albury’s sheer weight of possession and marking strength told late in the first half with a goal ensuring they went to the break with a slender one-point lead.
But St Lukes kept them scoreless in the second half while finding three points of their own, enough to give them a richly deserved 1.3 (9) to 1.1 (7) victory.
Every match of the Paul Kelly Cup statewide finals was exclusively live streamed across four fields of action on KommunityTV.
PREVIEW
Reigning Paul Kelly Cup champions Henschke Catholic Primary will be the team to beat once again when the finals kick off in Sydney on Wednesday.
The Wagga Wagga school footy giants will fly the flag for the Riverina in the boys division at the annual schools footy knockout.
For the third-straight year, every match of the Paul Kelly Cup statewide finals will be exclusively live streamed across four fields of action on KommunityTV.
Henschke, who took out the boys tournament with an undefeated run through the finals round robin last year, will open its tournament in thrilling fashion in a grand final rematch against Merimbula Primary School.
It will be a grudge match for the ages, with Merimbula determined to turn the tide after going down by five goals in last year’s decider.
The race to the girls Paul Kelly Cup title is wide open after last year’s winners Griffith East Primary did not qualify to compete in Sydney.
St John’s Dubbo will represent the western region in the girls after taking out their regional finals during tough and wet conditions.
With rain expected to fall on Wednesday, their conditional testing could shine through against Pool B rivals St Lukes Grammar, Mater Dei Catholic, Holy Spirit Primary School and Hayes Park Primary.
The Paul Kelly Cup, which is the largest primary-school age Australian rules competition in the country, expanded this year with more than 1000 school-age athletes taking part across the competition.
The knockout tournament, which started all the way back in Term 1 this year, has been whittled down to the top schools from the 10 different regions across the NSW/ACT.
Those schools have been divided into two pools across boys and girls respectively, with the top two in each pool advancing to the semi-finals at the end of Wednesday’s action.
The semi-final winners will contest grand finals on fields one and two.
