KEMBLA INSIDE MAIL
RACE 1: BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (2400m)
Montgomery jumped from 1600m to 2100m when third at Wyong on Dec 11. Didn’t appreciate the quick back-up a week later when a well beaten fifth at Warwick Farm. Back to the provincials, 2400m and will love the wet track. So Sleek was just beaten by Casual Connection at Rosehill before a fourth at Eagle Farm. Both career wins have been on heavy tracks including one over 2350m. Tenniel went back-to-back on soft and heavy tracks over 200m last campaign. Handy second at Canberra and ready to peak third-up.
Bet: Montgomery to win
RACE 2: SUPER MAIDEN PLATE (1300m)
Reasonable has been a little frustrating with six minor placings from her 10 starts as she has shown more than enough ability to win a couple of races. Boxed on for third to Isla Negra two starts back before a second to Rickythesteamboat. Bred to handle the heavy and gets her chance. Montigo Bay was backed from $6 into $4.20 last start when seventh to Rybakina after settling well back on a track it was hard to make ground on. Was third to subsequent city winners Oh Diamond Lil and Altair I Am before that. Glory came from last when ninth in that same race. Placed on the heavy.
Bet: Reasonable to win
RACE 3: CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1300m)
Unleeshing was runner-up to Private Harry at Rosehill then went to Canterbury on New Year’s Day where she was a beaten favourite when sixth behind Manuscript. After settling back, she worked home fairly over the 1100m. Looks like she will appreciate the 1300m. Summer Soiree was nosed out by Recruiter at Hawkesbury first-up before a huge win by more than eight lengths in a 1300m Maiden at Wyong. Placed both runs on the heavy. Zale ran some handy races before leading all-the-way at Newcastle last campaign. Fitter for two runs back and can run a cheeky race.
Bet: Unleeshing to win
RACE 4: MAIDEN HANDICAP (1000m)
Money Team resumes for a new stable off a nice trial win at Rosehill. Was kept out wide throughout but travelling strongly before taking the lead in the last 200m and going to the line under a hold. Placed four of his five starts including a third at Gosford on heavy ground. Sweet Patriot was good in four of her five starts in metro company and raced ungenerously out wide in her only real failure at Canterbury. Was a handy second to Linwood on a heavy track at Warwick Farm second-up last campaign. Sheriff’s Star showed ability when second in his first trial at Rosehill and third ion debut here last August. Returns as a gelding.
Bet: Money Team to win
RACE 5: BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP (1600m)
Mega Fight took until start 17 to finally break through for his first win when he scored by a length over 1650m at Moruya. He then made it two in a row with a handy win at Nowra at his next start. Placed in seven of his nine starts on wet ground. Missile Seeker was held-up three back on the fence and only got out in the last 200m when fourth to Tomba here two weeks ago. Extra trip and a wide gate should suit. Oakfield Prince battled away for fourth on a Good 3 at Wyong last start. Had a win and two placings before that. Will appreciate the wet.
Bet: Mega Fight to win
RACE 6: MIDWAY MAIDEN PLATE (1500m)
Cold Brew started favourite on debut but his inexperience cost him by racing greenly in the straight when a half-length second to Lough Eske on the Beaumont. Followed up with a second to Goodlucktome at Canterbury. Bred to handle the wet and can break through. Cuban Rain made good ground from well back when sixth to Alinea at Canterbury before a very good second to Rybakina under similar circumstances here last start. Will be strong late. Blue Tongue made ground out wide here last start. Keep safe.
Bet: Cold Brew to win
RACE 7: BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1400m)
Tartana returned from a spell with a handy length second behind all-the-way winner Mogwai over 1300m here two weeks ago. Her three wins have come on wet tracks and she has placed two from three on the heavy. Lights Of Paradise has been good in all five starts. Won The Pearl stylishly at first-up Tuncurry before a length second to Rubi’s Serve on the Beaumont. Both wins have been on the soft and placed on the heavy. Satness drops back in grade after running in Midways at his past three starts. Was a winner on a heavy 10 here in October.
Bet: Tartana each-way
