The 17-year-old blitzed his way through the finish line, crossing in an astonishing 19.84 in a time that unfortunately won’t enter the record books due to the +2.2m/s wind.
“He is Gout of this universe,” Mitch Dyer said on Channel 7.
“Unbelievable. It won’t count in terms of a record but what it will do is say, ‘Hey world this is me’.
“This kid is everything we think he is.”
Aidan Murphy finished second in 20.40 ahead of Christopher Ius in 20.76.
Despite the looming rivalrly between Gout and Kennedy, the two shared a heartfelt embrace at the finish line.
Kennedy jogged his way around the track after being disqualified before he met Gout at the finish line.
The outrageous display from the teen sensation left jaws on the floor across the athletics world.
Athletics coach Tim Rosen wrote on X: “Wow. That was next level.”
Athletics Australia wrote: “The kid has done it again. 17-year-old Gout Gout has secured a slice of history becoming the second fastest Under 20 man in history over 200m in all conditions. We are running out of words for this global sensation.”
Journalist Ben Smith wrote: “He is Him. Look at that explosion off the bend and the gears he hits on the home straight.”
Channel 7 sport posted: “GOUT OF THIS WORLD. Gout Gout SMASHES the Australian record.”
Earlier, Gout breezed his way into the 200m final as he cruised over the finish line in an ominous warning to his rivals.
The young star took his foot off the gas before crossing in a sizzling time of 20.21 to advance into the final.
Christopher Geordas crossed the line in second place, earning automatic qualification into the final, with a time of 21.06.
Kennedy also took his foot completely off the gas in his heat, crossing the line in 20.85 as he finished behind Aidan Murphy.
Gout’s revenge over Kennedy comes after he finished second to him in Melbourne on March 29.
The 21-year-old spoiled the party, winning the Peter Norman Memorial 200m and beating Gout in a shock upset.
Kennedy crossed in a personal best time of 20.26sec, ahead of Gout in 20.30sec. Kennedy, who won the 100m earlier in the day, flew out of the blocks and was well ahead at the bend.
Gout came home like a rocket over the last 100m and nearly pipped Kennedy on the line but Gout left his run just a bit too late.
“Gout’s come with a flying run and Kennedy’s absolutely turned his personal best inside out,” Bruce McAvaney said in commentary on Seven.
Kennedy’s previous personal best was 20.93 and he now has the fourth fastest 200m time by an Australian.
“We don’t have one, we’ve got two stars in Australian sprinting.”
“Australian sprinting is on one right now, spearheaded by Gout,” Kennedy said post-race.
“I knew he was coming, my goal was just to hold him off. Five more metres and he would have had me.”
