South Australian Wade Ormsby added to field for LIV Adelaide

Being in the right place at the right time has worked out well for the veteran Aussie set to tee off in LIV’s $30m Adelaide event.

"Club drop" after INSANE Thomas Eagle

South Australian veteran Wade Ormsby has been given a late call-up to play his hometown LIV event for the first time after the withdrawal of Jinichiro Kozuma.

Ormsby, 44, was one of the inaugural LIV players in the first season of the breakaway league in 2022 but couldn’t land a permanent spot when the teams concept got into full swing in 2023.

He has remained a fill-in for various events but missed both Adelaide events in 2023 and 2024 and will get to strut his stuff at The Grange Golf Club as a fill-in for the Ironheads team captained by Kevin Na.

“The boys and I are hoping Jini gets better soon! We are excited to have Wade in Adelaide this week – it’s hometown hero time!” Na said.

It’s the second event in a row Ormsby will fill in for Kozuma, having finished in a tie for 25th in the opening event of 2025 in Riyadh last week.

“I’m super pumped,” he said.

Ormsby, now ranked 455th in the world, has been playing on the Asian Tour, a feeder tour for LIV.

He also played in the LIV Promotions event in an attempt to get a full-time berth but wasn’t successful.

He’ll be the fifth Australian in the field for the third LIV Adelaide event, joining the Ripper GC quarter of Cameron Smith, Marc Leishman, Lucas Herbert and Matt Jones, who will be the “hunted” after a dramatic team’s title win last year, as well as winning the season-ending team championship in Dallas.

“That’s what comes with the territory,” Herbert said.

“If you are going to win the world championship, you are going to get hunted. It’s a position we want to be in.”

The LIV event begins on Friday.
