LIV players will be able to compete at all four majors after a move from the PGA

Greg Norman slammed the PGA Tour again just as another major door was open for his LIV rebels.

Greg Norman’s latest swipe at the PGA Tour hasn’t deterred the PGA of America for clearing another major hurdle for golfing rebels who joined his LIV Golf series.

On of the great concerns of players lured by Norman, including Aussie star Cameron Smith, was whether they’d be able to compete at the majors.

That road is now all clear after the PGA of America gave the green light for eligible LIV players to compete at this year’s PGA Championship meaning they can now play at all four majors.

The decision from the PGA comes hot on the heels of the R&A confirming it would not be changing its stance from last year where LIV rebels were able to play with golf’s war at it’s most tense.

Smith will not only be able to defend his British Open crown but also look to add to his swag as he’s eligible for all four majors, including the PGA and the Masters who will welcome back five former champions, who are now all LIV members, to Augusta in April.

PGA of America CEO, Seth Waugh, said it while there may a solution to the ongoing impasse, with LIV players banned from the PGA Tour, the tournament was about having the best players play.

“Our decisions are always based on what’s in the best interest of the PGA of America and conducting the best Championship possible,” PGA of America CEO, Seth Waugh, said of his decision.

“Sadly the current division in the professional game is not good for the sport or the future of the game. We hope there might be some resolution soon.

“In the meantime, as always, our focus will be on our mission to grow the game and improve the lives of our members, who work so hard to impact millions of lives every day.”

But attendance will be limited to those LIV members who are eligible for an invitation.

Past PGA winners, including Phil Mickelson, along with winners of the other majors in the past five years and winners of the Players Championship the past three years, a group which includes Smith, will receive an invite to this year’s PGA.

Speaking on the People I (Mostly) Admire podcast, Norman, the LIV Golf League CEO, continued his attacks on the PGA Tour calling in a “monopolist” operation and tour players should be thanking his operation for the recent cash injection via a series of elevated events.

“They don’t like competition. To see what’s happened today on the PGA Tour, since LIV came onto the scene, a massive amount of capital was injected back into the players on the PGA Tour,” Norman said.

“So, to be honest with you, the players on the PGA Tour should be giving a standing ovation to LIV, the league, and the players for stimulating this new injection of money.”
