Matthew Wolff thought missing the cut was bad.

Well, his 2021 Masters experience just got a whole lot worse after being disqualified.

The talented 21-year-old was disqualified after recording a lower score on the 17th than he actually made, a statement from the Masters confirmed.

Wolff, ranked 23rd in the world, was furious after missing his fourth putt. Without a second’s thought, Wolff instantly putted his fifth shot tap-in.

But rather than recording the par-4 17th as a bogey, he registered the score as a par as he charged off the green.

You could forgive Wolff if he was pushing towards double figures for the hole, but it’s a unfathomable mistake for a golfer to make such a blunder after just five shots.

It came on the same day Si Woo Kim also produced a bizarre blunder, snapping his putter and completing the rest of his round using a 3-wood on the green.

Making the moment all the more suspect was the quick manner in which Wolff completed his fifth shot.

Make no mistake, Wolff is a star in the making.

He made the cut in his first Masters last year, came second in his maiden US Open and tied-fourth at the PGA Championship.

His 2021 Masters however failed to get off the ground, as he struggled throughout the opening two rounds.
