GLORIA Govan may have men fighting over her, but she can kick ass on her own.
The Basketball Wives LA star — who made headlines last week when it was reported her estranged husband, NBA player Matt Barnes, confronted Govan’s current flame, Knicks coach Derek Fisher, after Barnes’ twin sons told him Fisher was at their house — has dabbled as an internet action hero in addition to her reality-TV career.
Govan played V — classical ballerina by day, contract assassin by night — on the 2012 Web series Clean Ops: The Chronicles of V.
At the time, Govan told S2S magazine that she learned weapons training, boxing and self-defence for the show — all while clad in form-fitting black leather and stiletto heels.
“I felt like I was going out for the Army or the Marines,” she said. “It was just crazy.”
It’s a tough-girl image that Govan clearly wasn’t ready to shed.
Her ex, Barnes, a forward for the Memphis Grizzlies, once played with Fisher when they were both on the Los Angeles Lakers’ roster. And now dating her ex-husband’s former teammate has one of her Basketball Wives co-stars calling foul.
“From a ‘girl-code’ standpoint, I feel like Gloria may have violated it,” Tami Roman, ex-wife of retired LA Clippers point guard Kenny Anderson, told the New York Post.
Roman is close friends with Fisher’s ex, Candace, who was blindsided by divorce papers in March, a month after her and Fisher’s 10-year anniversary.
“I would assume that, being that Matt played for the Lakers with Derek, that Gloria and Candace have crossed paths,” Roman says. “Of all people, why did it have to be him?”
But Roman’s not letting the men off the hook, either.
“[As for Derek], why would you want to date Gloria? You just don’t do that. You see so much t–s and ass, you don’t have to pick within the [basketball] circle.”
Drama aside, Roman says Govan and Barnes could still reconcile.
“Now for Matt’s actions, betrayal is only a feeling that you have when you still love. So he may feel betrayed probably because in his heart he still loves Gloria.”
