Gatton Hawks players set pace in race for TRL Webcke Price Medal

The race for the Webcke Price Medal is heating up and with the halfway point of the TRL competition just two rounds away we rate the stars in contention for the Player of the Year honour.

With the halfway point of the TRL Hutchinson Builders A-grade season fast approaching it’s time to look at the leading Webcke Price Medal favourites.

Named in honour of legendary TRL and NRL talents Shane Webcke and Steven Price, the medal is awarded to the just competition’s male player of the year.

League fans and officials are already describing the 2025 season as one of the most competitive ever and the proof can seen in the medal voting up to round 7.

Further proof of just how competitive the season has been is the fact the competition’s top two points scorers, Chris Woodbrige and Leonard Thomas, do not feature in the medal count top ten.

1. Tom Luhrman, Gatton, 16 points

“The best thing I can say about Tom is he is playing above the level of this competition. His form has been amazing this season, he’s at a completely different level,” TRL commentator Andrew O’Brien.

2. Denzel Burns, Valleys, 8 points

“He’s a shining light for Valleys this season. He’s been a great leader for them – leading through his actions not just words.

3. Luke Self, Gatton, 8 points

“He competes all the time and seems to be three phases ahead of the play compared to everyone else. Luke is really like a good bottle of wine, he’s getting better and better with age.”

4. Brad Zampech, Gatton, 7 points

“Brad is having an amazing impact in his first TRL season. A great game manager who knows where to be.”

5. Cooper Bowyer, Pittsworth, 5 points

“Cooper is the difference maker in the big moments for Pittsworth. He makes the big plays, he takes control, he is there when his team needs that point of difference.”
