Former Melbourne City captain Jamie Maclaren joins Indian Super League champions Mohun Bagan

The most prolific striker in A-League history has confirmed his next career move.

Jamie Maclaren calls last night's hat-trick his "proudest moment on a football pitch"

A-League great Jamie Maclaren has signed a four-year deal with Indian Super League giants Mohun Bagan.

A move to India was widely touted for Maclaren when he announced in April that he would be leaving Melbourne City at the end of the 2023-24 A-League season.

And the prolific marksman’s new club has now been confirmed, with Maclaren to join other former A-League players Jason Cummings, Dimitri Petratos and Tom Aldred at the reigning ISL champions.

“It’s going to be a super exciting season, and I can’t wait to get over there,” said former Socceroo Maclaren, the A-League’s all-time leading scorer with 154 goals in 233 appearances.

Mohun Bagan claimed the last season’s ISL championship by one point from Mumbai City, with the prize being a spot in the 2024-25 AFC Champions League Two competition that will also include last year’s Australia Cup winners Sydney FC.

Meanwhile, Socceroos midfielder Patrick Yazbek has joined US Major Soccer League club Nashville from Norwegian top-flight outfit Viking FK.

Yazbek, 22, made 28 A-League appearances for Sydney FC before linking with Viking in February last year.

In 18 months with Viking, Yazbek appeared in 44 matches in all competitions before signing with Nashville.

“Let’s get started,” Yazbek said in a social media post.

Nashville general manager Mike Jacobs said: “Patrick is a progressive midfielder who helps create scoring chances out of midfield with his robust and dynamic link-up play.

“His experiences with the Australian national team, as well as playing in the top division in Norway at such a young age, have already demonstrated unique attributes that should translate here in Major League Soccer.”
