Cricket fans have been treated to yet another piece of individual brilliance in the WBBL thanks to a stunning catch in the game between the Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunder on Saturday night.
Batting first, the Strikers posted a solid total of 140 on the back of strong knocks by Madeline Penna (35 runs off 37 balls) and Tahlia McGrath (42 off 34), fresh off her heroics in Australia’s recent series victory over India.

Chasing 141 for victory, the Thunder was always going to be up against it once teenage sensation Phoebe Litchfield and Indian star Smriti Mandhana fell cheaply at the top of the order.
Corrine Hall put up a fight with 38 off 35 balls but she ran out of batting partners as wickets steadily fell around her.
The moment of the match came in the final over when English import Issy Wong hit a towering shot that looked certain to sail well over the rope for six.
But the ball dipped at the last minute and the Strikers’ Bridget Patterson pulled off a spectacular catch that is sure to feature on the WBBL’s highlights reel.
Standing right near the boundary, Patterson leaned back and reach up with one hand, plucking the ball out of the air before tossing it in to the field of play to avoid the rope, as she regained her balance and calmly completed the catch.
Her nonchalant celebration did not reflect the sheer brilliance of the feat she had executed.

The brilliant catch sealed a clinical 30-run victory for the Strikers, who got their WBBL campaign off to the perfect start against the defending champions.
Patterson’s exploits were yet another example individual brilliance in the field, following Indian import Shafali Verma’s sensational run out for the Sydney Sixers in the first game of the WBBL.
