‘So excited’: Boxing star Nicola Adams reveals partner is pregnant with first child

British boxing star Nicola Adams and her girlfriend Ella Baig have revealed they’re having their first baby together.

Boxing star Nicola Adams and her girlfriend Ella Baig have revealed they’re having their first baby together.

The couple shared a snap of them kissing on the seafront in a sweet post on Instagram to announce the news, The Sun reports.

Adams and Baig posted to Instagram: “We’re so excited to announce that our family is expanding

“After what feels like a lifetime, we can finally say we’re going to be parents!

“We’re so excited to share this magical journey with you all, the ups, the downs everything in between.

“Welcome to the world little one.”

Adams made history as the first same-sex couple to take part in Strictly Come Dancing with professional dancer Katya Jones.

She started her fertility journey with 24-year-old Baig in 2019.

Adams, who won Olympic gold in 2012 and 2016 before turning pro and retiring undefeated in 2019, said the pair decided to use one of her eggs, and that Baig would carry the baby.

But their first rounds of IVF failed and Baig had a miscarriage after an undiagnosed underactive thyroid.

After waiting months for her thyroid levels to reach a safe point to be begin the process again.

Adams wrote in Vogue: “We had two failed attempts in total. I was really upset.

“Of course, we knew that there was a chance of it being unsuccessful, but it’s hard to see those two lines on a pregnancy test and feel elated before having that ripped from you just a few weeks later.

“I was also more upset for Ella as she was the one going through the process physically. You don’t really know what to say or do – you just have to be supportive.”

It was third time lucky for the happy couple – with Baig now in her second trimester.

Adams writes: “I’m so happy, but it’s also been emotional. We were worried about getting too excited because we’d miscarried before, but I think it’s really important that we try to enjoy it rather than dwelling on what could go wrong.

“I was so excited to share the news with friends and family. They’ve been incredibly supportive throughout our journey and their faces lit up when we told them. It feels even more real now that Ella is beginning to show.”

And Adams admits they‘re already planning to have more children in future.

But for now they‘re looking forward to preparing for their first child’s birth, saying “we want to be the best parents we can be.”

She added: “Ella and I would like to have more kids after this. Next time around, I think the process will be a lot easier for us.”

Model and beauty blogger Baig started dating boxer Adams in 2018.
