Tim Tszyu is set for back-to-back domestic pay-per-view blockbusters, while Liam Paro and Liam Wilson could each land world title fights as Nikita Tszyu and Sam Goodman both return from injury setbacks in a jam-packed first six months of 2025.
Leading Australian boxing promotion No Limit officially announced its schedule for the first half of the year on Wednesday, and will smash its own record by holding 10 pay-per-views and six linear Fox shows in a single year.
The national tour will see fights held in Sydney, Cairns, Gold Coast and Brisbane, with discussions underway to return to Melbourne and head to Perth and Adelaide for the first time.
In addition to Keith Thurman, a host of American talent is being targeted, including Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero, Mario Barrios and Caleb Plant.
The year gets underway with former unified welterweight world champion Keith Thurman taking on Sydneysider Brock Jarvis on March 12 at the Hordern Pavilion.
Tim Tszyu is back in action on April 6 in Newcastle against dangerous American Joey Spencer as ‘The Soul Taker’ looks to rebound from back-to-back defeats in 2024.
This masthead can confirm Tszyu and Thurman will meet in a long-awaited showdown on July 6 on the Gold Coast if they both win their next fights.
The pair were originally scheduled to fight in March last year before Thurman pulled out with injury, and the paperwork is all but done for a PPV fight in July.
“Brock is the little kangaroo, I’m here for the big kangaroo,” Thurman said of a potential clash with Tszyu.
“I came here to have my fight with Brock Jarvis. We get that victory and I would love to get back in the ring with Tim Tszyu.”
Tszyu has banned his inner circle from talking about future fights, and was blunt when asked about Thurman calling him out: “Sign the contract, big boy!” he said.
After a month of heartbreak when his mega-money world title shot against Naoya Inoue was postponed, then cancelled due to cuts on his eye, Goodman will likely return on May 14 in Sydney.
The 26-year-old will bounce back straight into a world title eliminator, although there are still hopes he could fight for a vacant super-bantamweight title if Inoue moves up in weight.
Nikita Tszyu has been out of action since his Fight of the Year win over Koen Mazoudier last August and has had complications coming back from surgery on his hand.
There are hopes he’ll be ready to return in a co-main event spectacular alongside Goodman, but ‘The Butcher’ may make his comeback in Cairns on June 11.
That’s also the date loosely pencilled in for recently signed No Limit fighter Liam Paro to make his promotional debut.
A proud North Queenslander, Paro has been linked to WBC or WBO world title fights in a homecoming blockbuster, and could even take on American superstar Roland ‘Rolly’ Romero later in the year.
Romero is currently preparing to fight Ryan Garcia in the first ever event held at Times Square in New York in May.
One-time IBF super-lightweight world champion Paro has even been tapped to make a move up to welterweight to fight WBC champion Mario Barrios.
Barrios was a fan favourite Down Under when he spent the week on the Gold Coast with Brian Mendoza when ‘La Bala’ fought Tim Tszyu in 2023.
The July 6 pay-per-view card on the Gold Coast is shaping up to be the biggest event of the year.
A Tszyu vs Thurman bout would be an eliminator, and a win could see Tszyu propelled into a world title revenge mission against old foe Sebastian Fundora.
Depending on fight planning, Paro’s fight could end up on this card too.
There are also plans to have Liam Wilson in a third world title bout against either WBC super-featherweight champion O’Shaquie Foster, or WBO belt-holder Emanuel Navarrete on the same card.
“Man, I’m all for it,” Wilson said of the prospect of fighting for another world title. “Third time lucky for a word title, so hopefully that’s on the cards.
“I’ll fight anybody, anywhere, so if we can get that happening – wherever it may be – I’m down for it.”
The final show announced on Wednesday is a Fox Sports lineal event in Brisbane on July 23.
Australian Olympic hero Callum Peters will headline against the winner of next week’s Australian light-heavyweight title stoush between rising star Kirra Ruston and former footy player turned fighter Tonga Tongotongo.
The schedule for the second half of the year will be released at a later date, but this masthead can confirm there will be another pay-per-view in Brisbane.
Negotiations are advanced for No Limit to hold its first events in Perth and in Adelaide in the second half of the year too.
