Sydney Kings star Dejan Vasiljevic to weigh up overseas options ahead of NBL24

A host of rising NBL stars will be part of the upcoming US Summer League in an opportunity to impress the world’s biggest clubs. See who’s heading to America here.

Hero Dellavedova returns to the NBL!

Sydney Kings sharpshooter Dejan Vasiljevic is no guarantee to return to the NBL next season, with the guard keen to weigh up his NBA and European options.

Vasiljevic still has two seasons left on his contract with the Kings, but he hasn’t ruled out leaving to play overseas.

It comes as Sydney – the back-to-back champions – still have three starting roster spots to fill ahead of the NBL24 tip-off on September 30.

The Kings won’t lock in anymore signings until they secure a head coach – understood to be another American – as early as next week.

The coach announcement will pave the way for Sydney to finalise its roster, but the uncertainty around Vasiljevic’s future adds another question mark.

The rising guard has been training in America since April and plans to play in next month’s NBA Summer League for the second straight year.

Vasiljevic played for the Phoenix Suns in 2022 and has multiple teams interested in his services for this year’s tournament.

He will join other current and former NBL players at the NBA Summer League from July 7 to 17, including Keanu Pinder, Luke Travers, Kai Sotto and newly signed King DJ Hogg.

Vasiljevic is currently based in Miami training and is focused on perfecting his craft to see where the next step takes him.

“I’m hoping to play NBA Summer League again and we’ll see what happens after that,” Vasiljevic told ESPN.

“If I’m lucky enough to stay here in the US, I will, if a European team wants me.

“If not, then I go back to the Sydney Kings.”
