Experts reveal their SuperCoach NBL trades for round 3

How can you keep your SuperCoach NBL team firing? See who the experts are trading for round 3 – and why an Adelaide 36ers big man is hot property this week.

It’s a big week at SuperCoach NBL trade HQ.

Five teams have a double-game round this week – Melbourne United, Cairns Taipans, Adelaide 36ers, Cairns Taipans and Perth Wildcats – so there are a lot of options when looking at who to bring in with our two trades for the round.

Some of experts are activating a Trade Boost to use a third trade. Who’s coming in, and who’s making way? Scroll down to see all their moves for this week.

My trades for this week are easy. I need to get as many double-header players as possible. Last week Walton Jr as a captain left me hurting and cost me a lot of wins. Hoping Edwards can continue his form and lead me back.

IN: Sam Waardenburg, Montrezl Harrell, Rob Edwards

OUT: Alex Toohey, Cam Oliver, Joe Wieskamp

First Boost of the year! The Adelaide and Cairns double-double means trades galore. Montrezl Harrell has already proven himself as a point-scoring beast and I was a Sam Waardenburg convert last year, so I’m happy to have him back. Rob Edwards also makes his way in, with the Joe Wieskamp experiment not a disappointment, but also not really a win. Trading out two Sydney Kings despite their double next week, but there are two still left in the team including Xavier Cooks, so all is well in Grizzly Grizzard land!

OUT: Darius Days

IN: Will Magnay

An obvious choice this round is to pocket my Days profit and cash in on Will Magnay, who’s set to explode in price this round, barring any unforeseen injuries. Coming off a career game against United, he looks fit, healthy and shapes as a top-three scorer this round.

OUT: Derrick Walton Jr

IN: Kendric Davis

Yes, DWJ had a shocking round 2, but I am not putting the blame entirely on him. His potential assists were through the roof. If his teammates hit 50 per cent of those shots, his score would be looking much better. However, he is leaking cash and has to go.

Kendric, after a controversial week via social media, will want to bounce back and prove himself in this league. Take some positives from the fact he’s still managing 31 SuperCoach points while shooting at 30 per cent. He’s a captain option this round!

OUT: Alex Toohey

IN: Montrezl Harrell

Now, a third trade is hard. I could save a Boost and just stick Space Cam Oliver as my starting Centre. However, there’s points to be made here, so I am upgrading Toohey to bring in the PPM king in Montrezl Harrell. Averaging 34 SuperCoach in 21 minutes per game is absurd and you’ll want to jump on that cash rise.

This week I am saying goodbye to a serviceable duo in Darius Days and Lachie Olbrich. The Hawks have done their job but their schedule over the next seven weeks is tied for worst in the league. Coming in, Will Magnay and Kendrick Davis. Both should see a cash increase and be big point getters.

IN: Will Magnay, Montrezl Harrell

OUT: Darius Days, Cam Oliver

Magnay and Harrell are the two standout premiums this week with Tasmania and Adelaide on the double – the third is 36er Kendric Davis, but I’ve already got him after deciding against trading last week. That cost me about 500 spots in the rankings, hopefully I can get some of those spots back this round. I’ve debated using a third trade to upgrade a player like Shea Ili, but with not much cash in the bank I think I’m better off holding my Trade Boosts for a rainy day – and hoping Shea cam recapture his round 1 form in United’s double.

TIM MICHELL (STILL NOT AN EXPERT)

IN: Kendrick Davis, Montrezl Harrell and Will Magnay

OUT: Jaylen Adams, Lachlan Olbrich and Darius Days

It’s getting to the dangerous stage where I think I might have some idea what I am doing after cracking into the top 300. The thought of going into a Perth double without Bryce Cotton terrifies me – he’s one of the few players who might actually achieve his Break Even of 90. But Davis seems to have a chip on his shoulder, having a crack at the media this week. I like that, he’s going to fired up. Magnay will be everyone’s captain.

My last trade came down to Kristian Doolittle or Harrell. I reckon Harrell can do some serious damage against the Phoenix, who only really have Jordy Hunter as a big man. I’m still keen on Doolittle, though – he’s played 33 and 39 minutes in the opening two games and would have scored close to 40 if he didn’t throw seven turnovers last round. We’ll see on Thursday if I change my mind.

See, I think I know what I am doing. Which can only mean bad things are about to happen.

IN: Kendrick Davis and Rob Edwards

OUT: Shane Ili and Jaylen Adams

I’d like to once again reinforce I don’t know anything about basketball and am here for the good hoops vibes. Kendrick Davis and Rob Edwards come in on the double, with Shane Ili and Jaylen Adams coming out. I know Ili is also on the double but I like getting ahead of the game with the 36ers and Taipans having two doubles in a row. Adams might come back in next week with the Kings on another double, but I’ve got nearly $110k in the bank to splash cash next week. Bryce Cotton is unaffordable, so I’m going to cop the pain of seeing coaches with him soar past me on the rankings due to his DGW but I’m playing a slightly longer game.
