As if he wasn’t already a think of nightmares for opposition players in the NBA, Victor Wembanyama has taken it to another level on Halloween.

Players across the NBA were dressing up for the annual US holiday, including Nuggets centre DeAndre Jordan arriving as Taylor Swift, but Wembanyama had to have taken the cake.

The 19-year-old Frenchman is in his first season in the NBA and is 224cm, although his wingspan is a massive 244cm or eight feet.

So Wembanyama used his unique features to nail his costume, arriving to Phoenix’s Footprint Centre dressed fictional supernatural character Slender Man for Halloween.

Slender Man is depicted as a thin (tick), unnaturally tall humanoid (tick) with a featureless white head and face who wears a black suit.

Slender Man was created online in 2009 as part of a Photoshop contest, but the image and story quickly went viral, spawning video games, films, literature and art.

Wearing a white morph suit over his face and a black suit, fans agreed Wembanyama nailed the look.

Having been picked up as the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft last year, the young gun is already setting the league on fire, having scored 16.2 points per game, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists.

Even before he started in the NBA, he had stars’ attention as LeBron James even called him a “generational talent” and an “alien”.

And he once again starred for the Spurs to down the Suns in a stunning last-gasp comeback.

Wembanyama scored 18 points, had eight rebounds and four blocks as the Spurs came back from 20 points down in the third quarter to claim the 115-114 win.

Coming off a brutal 40-point mauling by the LA Clippers on Sunday, San Antonio looked to be heading for another heavy defeat until the Spurs outscored the Suns 33-19 in the final frame to secure victory.

French prodigy Wembanyama, the No. 1 NBA Draft pick, played a crucial role in the comeback, with a jump shot from 15-feet, making it a three-point game with 49 seconds left on the clock.

He then tipped in a dunk to make it a one-point game with seven seconds remaining.

The decisive play however came from forward Keldon Johnson, who wrestled the ball away from a stunned Durant before driving to the basket for a layup that handed San Antonio their first lead of the game with just two seconds remaining.

There was still time for Durant to launch an attempted buzzer-beater, but his shot missed to leave San Antonio celebrating their first road win of the season.

“It wasn’t our prettiest game but we’re learning every day and we’re on the right path,” Wembanyama told broadcaster TNT after the win.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich saluted his team’s ability to keep grinding away in search of a victory.

“We made a gazillion mistakes – but it’s a game of mistakes. And so does every team,” Popovich said.

“But we just kept playing and that’s the best thing about the group. I was really proud of them.”

Wembanyama was one of five San Antonio players who finished in double figures. Johnson led the game in scoring with 27 points.
