Adelaide’s fortnight goes from bad to worse after cancelling practice matches against reigning champs

After a messy fortnight, the 36ers have cancelled their two official practice matches against the JackJumpers, opting out of travelling to Launceston due to unforeseen weather conditions.

Adelaide’s disrupted off-season has continued, with the 36ers cancelling their practice matches against reigning champions Tasmania, citing unforeseen weather conditions.

With the matches against the JackJumpers scheduled for Sunday (25th) and Tuesday (27th) evening in Launceston, the 36ers squad were meant to travel to Tasmania today, however opted out of the trip on the eve of the first match.

The 36ers on Saturday night announced: “The team were on route to Tasmania on Saturday, for games in Ulverstone on Sunday and Launceston on Tuesday, but were diverted to Melbourne due to weather forecasts.

“GM of Basketball Matt Weston said when the club was informed travelling to Tasmania was not assured on Sunday the decision was made to return to Adelaide.”

Adelaide has been at the front of NBL news cycle after sacking head coach Scott Ninnis and has been dealing with the messy fallout that Code Sports reported is now in the hands of lawyers.

The JackJumpers will instead host an intrasquad match, with ticket holders still able to attend both scheduled matches for those who want to retain their ticket and with extra access granted to fans. 

Head coach Scott Roth will provide insights throughout play and a meet and greet with the team to follow the final buzzer.
