What fans want to see on the road

STEPH Curry may be having the season of a lifetime dominating the NBA stats list, but there is still one figure Kobe Bryant has over the Warriors star.

STEPHEN Curry is having the season of a lifetime.

Currently the NBA’s top points scorer with an average of 32.2 per game, Curry’s role in the Golden State Warriors’ 23-0 start to the season has been immense.

And his performances have undoubtedly helped to bring in the crowds, with the Warriors having no trouble getting fans in seats either at home or on the road.

After 10 season home games, Golden State are selling out the Oracle Arena in Oakland in the majority of their matches, while still attracting 98.8 per cent capacity crowds in their 13 season games on the road.

With 82 games in the regular season, half of those spent on the road, it is rare for season ticket holders to make it to all 41 of their team’s home games. Most then would chose the match-ups they think will be most entertaining — Steph Curry’s Golden State Warriors are a prime example.

However despite the Warriors being on track to challenge the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls season record of 72-10, they are still not the most in-demand team with away fans.

NBA ticket holders still seem more interested in seeing one of the game’s greats play as much as possible before he retires at the end of the year.

Kobe Bryant’s LA Lakers are recording an immense 99.6 per cent capacity on the road, despite sitting bottom of the western conference with just three wins for the season to date.

In comparison, the Philadelphia 76ers who sit last in the eastern conference, have just a 89.9 per cent capacity rate on the road, despite holding an equal spot on the table to the Lakers.

Bryant announced his retirement late last month with a moving tribute to basketball published on The Players’ Tribune.

The five-time NBA champion will see out the remainder of the Lakers season, but with their current placing on the table, the playoffs ship has long since sailed for Bryant’s team.

With his playing time rapidly diminishing, it is no surprise fans are eager to enjoy the brilliance that is the 17-time All Star’s talent while it is still around to enjoy.
