THE Seattle Seahawks’ Australian defensive tackle Jesse Williams has hit out at fans who are furious at their team for blowing the Super Bowl.

THE Seattle Seahawks’ Australian defensive tackle Jesse Williams has hit out at fans who are furious at their team for blowing the Super Bowl.

The 197cm tall, 150kg Williams did not play a game this season for the Seahawks because of a knee injury, but he says he is fit enough to stick up for his coaches and teammates after the New England Patriots stole a 28-24 win in Arizona today.

“Wild seeing fans hating on the coaches and players that got us to the game,” Brisbane-raised Williams tweeted.

“If you wanna keep hating come see me.

“I’ll stick up for them.”

With 20 seconds to go and just one yard from the end zone, the Seahawks opted for quarterback Russell Wilson to throw a risky pass for the potential match-winning touchdown, but it was intercepted.

Commentators have slammed the team for not simply handing the ball to their almost unstoppable running back, Marshawn Lynch, for the match winner.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll took the blame for the call.

The interception cost the Seahawks their second consecutive Super Bowl victory.

Williams, 24, has been a member of the Seahawks squad for the past two seasons, but has not played one game because of two knee injuries.
