Australian NFL star Jordan Mailata has revealed how he celebrated his historic role in the Eagles’ Super Bowl win – it didn’t involve any sleep.

Mailata hasn't slept post Superbowl win

In true Australian fashion NFL giant Jordan Mailata celebrated his historic role in the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl with an all-night party so wild he doesn’t quite remember what happened.

Speaking on American breakfast television, the morning after the Eagles defeated back to back champions Kansas City Chiefs 40-22, Mailata said “the party was crazy”.

“I can’t say what happened in the party, but it was crazy in the party,” he told the hosts.

He said it still hadn’t quite sunk in that he had a Super Bowl ring on his finger.

“I’m not really sure how to describe it. The best way I could probably do it is … it doesn’t feel real,” Mailata said.

Just hours earlier, inside New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome Mailata recalled how big a jump he had taken to make the move from Australia to the USA and chase a dream in a sport he had never played before.

“But I think, just going back to how it all began: don’t be afraid to tip your toe in the water,” he told ESPN post match.

“You have got to immerse yourself; you have got to drown yourself in that atmosphere — whatever you want to do — learn to how to swim.

“It’s just a crazy, crazy journey so far.”

The 27-year-old is the first Australian to start and play in the Super Bowl.

Mailata played his first NFL game in 2020 and quickly became one of the league’s best offensive tackles.

His mum Maria and wife Niki watched from the grandstand while the rest of the family, living half way across the world in Sydney, all watched the game from their television.

“I had a lot of reasons for wanting to win this game but drawing on the experiences from the last time we were here, I think it was just very important for us that the guys who were here two years ago, for us to finish the job,” Mailata said.

“Inside my heart is full of joy, and I’m so proud of him,” Mailata’s father, Tupa’i, said on Monday morning.

In the immediate aftermath of the Eagles’ win in New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome, Mailata reflected on his longwinded NFL journey.

After signing a three-year contract extension worth $A105 million, there is sure to be plenty more to Mailata’s story.
