Jack Ginnivan doesn’t appear to have been able to help himself.

The Hawthorn forward on Saturday night caused a stir with a message shared on Twitter where he responded to a post made by teammate Will Day following the Hawks’ big win over Adelaide.

Ginnivan popped up in one of the biggest moments of the game and he was clearly pumped up when he kicked a goal on the brink of three-quarter time to push the margin back out to 33 points and shut the door on the Crows.

Ginnivan’s teammates, including Day, were just as fired up as the former Collingwood star was after the goal.

Day was seen pushing and shouting in Ginnivan’s face as teammates ran in to congratulate the small forward.

One shove knocked Ginnivan backwards in the eyebrow-raising encounter and it prompted Day to address it after the game.

“Love this guy, just a fired up celebration chill OTTNO (on to the next one),” Day wrote.

Ginnivan’s cheeky response has got tongues wagging despite appearing to be a clear case of stirring the pot.

“We f***ing hate each other,” he wrote.

That comment has been seen by more than 100,000 fans on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Hawks coach Sam Mitchell laughed off questions about the dramatic celebrations.

“They are really close, I sort of call them the rascal pack,” Mitchell said in his post match press conference.

“There is this whole little group of players, they spend all this time together, and they have all got their celebrations, and all those things.

“Basically, what I think was happening, they were getting into ‘Ginni’ because his two best mates are right in front of him, and he didn’t see them, and he had a shot at goal. They are into him about that. ‘Daysy’ is like, ‘That’s a boy, you have made up for it’.

“I think the banter that those guys have, in a fun way, they are having great fun playing footy as young men in their early 20s. But, by the same token, they have started to hold each other to a higher account. If you look at us as a group, I think they are a good snapshot.

“They started off in their careers having fun, and perhaps not doing everything they should be doing. Now, when they go outside of what they know is the best thing for the team, they pull each other up, so the coaches don’t need to get involved, and they are basically running themselves.”

It was one of Ginnivan’s best performances in Hawks colours, powering two goals and 22 touches, continuing his good form from last week where he had 23 disposals and a goal.
