Tim English set to return to training after being cleared of concussion

An ill Tim English was taken out of contact drills with the Bulldogs testing the ruckman to ensure concussion wasn’t involved, now the cause of the illness has been revealed.

Star Western Bulldogs big man Tim English’s mystery illness has been revealed as a migraine and not due to concussion.

The All-Australian was taken out of contact drills before Christmas and has still been stepping away from the main group during contact training as he dealt with his illness.

The Dogs described the setback as illness last week before confirming on Monday that it was “migraine-related symptoms”.

English was carefully assessed by Dogs medical staff and went through testing to ensure it wasn’t concussion related and his migraine has now cleared.

“As he has suffered concussion in the past, the club wanted to be thorough and diligent in Tim’s management and engaged medical specialists,” the Dogs said in a statement.

“As these comprehensive assessments were being completed in late December and early January, Tim was placed in a non-contact training model.

“Specialists confirmed that Tim’s symptoms were not related to concussion and more consistent with a migraine.

“Tim’s migraine symptoms have now fully resolved and he will progress back into full training over the next week.”

Given English’s issue has cleared and he has been able to maintain fitness through the last six weeks, he should be on track to play in match simulation against Hawthorn on February 23.

English, 26, has missed six games through concussion in his career.

He is due to come out of contract at the end of this season and will be in line to sign a huge contact.
