A Carlton fan that appeared in the background of the Fox Footy studio inside the MCG strangely said it all.
The fan made a spectacle of himself when he danced in the background behind the Fox Footy commentary panel following the Blues’ hoodoo-busting win over the Tigers on Thursday night at the MCG.
However, he was far from the only one.
Carlton fans were unashamedly losing the plot when the final siren sounded on the team’s extraordinary 14.17 (101) to 11.10 (76) win.
It was the team’s first win over the Tigers in their traditional season-opening clash since 2012.
The Blues hadn’t won a game before Round 3 in 10 years.
Carlton came back from 20-points down in the final quarter and kicked seven unanswered goals to close out the match.
They kicked five goals in seven minutes at one point to leave Richmond completely shellshocked.

For Carlton fans it was the type of scene where spectators give bear hugs to people they don’t even know.
When the siren sounded, the start of the club song couldn’t even be heard through the TV coverage because the roar from the crowd was so deafening.
It was all too much for the Carlton fan sitting at the top of the grandstand in front of Fox Footy stars Sarah Jones, Jason Dunstall, David King and Leigh Montagna.
The fan downed a beer and then waved his arms in celebration towards the camera before the live TV broadcast cut to a highlights replay.
Security asked the fan to leave the area.
King said with a laugh: “Good camera change there. Jason has just clubbed that guy off air there. We move on”.
Dunstall showed how loud the celebrations were when he said: “We can barely hear each other. They’re beside themselves.
“The crowd are going nuts.”
Like everyone else at the MCG, King appeared to get all worked up in the emotion of the moment and declared “the sleeping giant has awoken”.
“The fans are loving it and this is just the start,” he said.
“I think the sleeping giant has awoken. That is a performance tonight that was clinical. We said at three-quarter time this was an opportunity for the midfield to take complete control and they smashed them, led by Patrick Cripps.
“You just have to be in awe of what they‘ve done in such a short space of time.”
Cripps finished with 30 disposals and eight clearances and looked back to his best.
The Blues had plenty to celebrate earlier in the night when club hero Sam Docherty kicked a goal in his return game.
The 28-year-old is continuing to making an inspirational comeback just seven months after his second shock cancer diagnosis.
When he kicked a goal in the first half, the MCG erupted and Blues players ran in from everywhere to celebrate the moment with him.
It was described by footy commentators as “spine-tingling” and “goosebumps”.
While Carlton was celebrating in the first half, the Tigers were clearly rocked when star midfielder Dion Prestia hobbled from the field injured.
The club confirmed a short time later Prestia has suffered a hamstring injury and he was immediately subbed out of the game.
The Herald Sun Jon Ralph told Fox Footy it was an “unmitigated disaster” for the Tigers after the club had spent such a long time trying to discover the cause of the soft tissue injuries that have crippled him in recent seasons.
