The race to fill Essendon’s final list spots is down to two.
Midfielder Dylan Clarke and wingman Ronald Fejo jnr have been cut from the list of contenders for the Bombers’ two list vacancies, leaving only West Australian Nick Martin and Tex Wanganeen vying for a spot ahead of next month’s supplemental selection period deadline.
Martin, a midfielder/half-forward, kicked four goals in a standout showing during the Dons’ intra-club match on Wednesday, while Wanganeen showed glimpses of brilliance, kicking two goals of his own.

Wanganeen is the son of former Port Adelaide and Essendon star Gavin Wanganeen.
The Dons have two list openings and have committed to picking at least one of Martin or Wanganeen.
Both players could have another chance to stake their claims on Wednesday in a practice game against the Western Bulldogs.
Hard-running onballer Clarke played 24 AFL games with the Dons before being delisted at the end of last season. He was given the chance to train for a reprieve but the club has ultimately opted to look elsewhere.
Speedster Fejo jnr, from the Northern Territory, also showed flashes in Wednesday’s game.
“Nick Martin I thought was pretty impressive. He‘s had a really good pre-season and is obviously hoping to grab that list spot that’s available. He’s continued to impress in that forward and wing role,” assistant coach Dale Tapping said after Wednesday’s match.
“Tex Wanganeen has been pretty impressive too.
“All the young guys are starting to progress really well again so it’s positive signs.”
The SSP deadline is March 9.
