Collingwood president Jeff Browne has struck up a close friendship with richlister Naomi Milgrom.

The pair attended the Brownlow Medal together on Monday night and were guests at the official Toyota AFL Grand Final function in the Olympic Room on Saturday.

Browne said he’s feeling well and the pair had been encouraged to spend time together by mutual friend Gabrielle Trainor, who is on the AFL Commission.

“We’ve been hanging out,” Browne said.

“She came to a few Collingwood games. She barracks for Collingwood now. She’s not a football person but she’s enjoyed the football experience.

“I knew her before but Gabi encouraged us.

“My health is good, I’m a romantic, I’m passionate about a lot of things.”

Browne has revealed he will step down from the president’s role when the time is right.

A very private billionaire, Milgrom is a well respected business leader and philanthropist.

VIP guests at the Olympic Room function included billionaires, footy legends, politicans and business leaders.

They were all welcomed by AFL Chairman Richard Goyder.

Among those chewing the fat were Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and opposition leader Peter Dutton, who were mingling with the likes of Seven Group billionaire Kerry Stokes and AFL CEO Andrew Dillon, along with the likes of St Kilda president and AFL commissioner Andrew and Paul Bassat.

There was Richard Marles, Anika Wells, Jacinta Allan, Ben Carroll, Peter Malinauskas, Governor General Sam Mostyn, Sam Groth, plus Ryan Stokes, Penny Fowler, Patrick Delany, Michael Miller, Gillon McLachlan, Kylie Rogers, Eddie McGuire, Craig Hutchison, Brad Green, Luke Sayers, John Nicholls, Leigh Matthews, Kevin Sheedy, Brian Cook, Jayne Hrdlicka, Sonja Hood, Robin Bishop, Vicki Brady, Jack Riewoldt and Curtis Stone.

“We opened the season back in March,” Goyder said.

“You couldn’t have scripted it better and according to some people online, we did.

“One of the most open and competitive seasons of all time, from opening round to gather round. Swans and Giants played an instant classic and Brisbane has made thrilling comebacks an art.

“Today we have a Sydney-Brisbane grand final played here in Melbourne that will bring together millions across the nation.”

Mark Seymour sang his classics Throw Your Arms Around Me and Holy Grail, with laughs by comedian Titus O’Reily.
