It’s a tie!

Christian Petracca’s 20-disposal second half to will his Dees over the line against Sydney in round 24 might just deliver him a first Brownlow Medal.

But, he may be sharing the stage with a young Magpie who wears the No.35.

That’s what our 2023 SuperFooty predictor is indicating as we gear up for what’s set to be one of the most thrilling counts in AFL history.

We’ve pored through all the data and statistics to compile votes from every game of every round, providing you a guide as to how the race for ‘Charlie’ will play out.

The big question going into the night will be, can Nick Daicos hang on after his injury in round 21 that ended his home and away season?

SuperFooty expects his four-game run between rounds 15 and 18 to prove pivotal, with the maximum 12 votes predicted to go Daicos’ way.

With the Collingwood sensation not forecast to poll from round 19 onwards, that’ll be the time for other contenders like Petracca, Lachie Neale, Marcus Bontempelli and Zak Butters to make their move.

No doubt Bulldogs fans will be barking at the Bont missing out on a top-three finish.

SuperFooty does have the star Dog polling in the equal-most games for the season with 14, so there is scope for him to make a charge should the umps bump a few of those predicted two-vote games to threes on Brownlow night.

PORT’S POWER COUPLE

No two players from the one club are predicted to poll more combined votes than Zak Butters and Connor Rozee in 2023’s Brownlow count.

SuperFooty has given the Port Adelaide young guns 50 votes between them, with Butters (26) just ahead of Rozee (24).

While many expect Butters to be a contender for the medal, Rozee isn’t far behind and there could be some value in tipping him to win Port Adelaide’s count on the night.

HOW CLARRY’S HAMMY COULD HAND TRAC CHARLIE

While Zak Butters misses out on a top-five finish due to Connor Rozee taking his votes, Christian Petracca is predicted to win the Brownlow with Clayton Oliver missing a 10-game chunk of the season.

Oliver and Petracca have been taking votes off each other for years, but due to Clarry’s rocky recovery from a hamstring injury the door has opened for Trac in 2023.

SuperFooty predicts Petracca to poll 15 votes in the period Oliver is on the sidelines, who knows how many of those Oliver would have stolen had he been in the side.

SUSPENDED DOCKER SE-WRONGED?

Fremantle had a terrible season on the back of winning a final in 2022.

Now, they can’t even cheer on Caleb Serong in a Brownlow count where SuperFooty is tipping he’ll make the top five.

A one-match suspension for a dangerous tackle, that the Dockers unsuccessfully challenged, has ruled him out of contention.

Serong also won the 2023 Herald Sun Player of the Year, which is even more evidence to show he could be a dark horse to challenge the top of the leaderboard come late September.

SNUBBED TIGER’S TIME TO SHINE

Eyebrows were raised when Tim Taranto was left out of the All-Australian squad following a career best year.

SuperFooty hasn’t given Taranto the same treatment the All-Australian selectors did.

Watch out for the Tigers’ ball magnet in rounds 6-14, where Taranto is predicted to poll in nine-straight matches on his way to 26 votes for the season.

It won’t quite be the Matthew Priddis story from 2014 when the Eagle missed the All Australian team and won the Brownlow that year, but Taranto is close to a sure thing for a top-ten finish.
