SuperCoach AFL stats dossier: Full CBAs, kick-ins, time on ground for round 13

Izak Rankine hasn’t hit 100 SuperCoach points for six weeks. See the numbers behind the scores plus CBAs, kick-ins and time on ground for every player in round 13.

How can the AFL fix the bye-round issue?

Where do you deploy your most dangerous asset?

It’s a question Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks wrestles with on a weekly basis when it comes to matchwinner Izak Rankine – and the answer right now is not what SuperCoaches want to hear.

Rankine has attended upwards of 70 per cent of centre bounces in some games this year, but he has been closer to 40 per cent in the past three rounds, attending 11 in Friday night’s win against Brisbane (50 per cent).

Just three of those came in the first half, when Rankine scored 21 SuperCoach points. A move into the midfield after halftime paid dividends – eight CBAs and 69 SuperCoach points.

Despite his obvious scoring power, Rankine hasn’t cracked three figures since round 8 – the last time he had over 60 per cent CBAs for a full game.

He is just one SuperCoach star being impacted by major magnet moves.

Lachie Whitfield has a three-round average of 94 – and has lost almost $50,000 in that time – as he spends more time forward, while Zach Merrett is being thrown all over the ground. After playing as a defender in round 12, he spent 51 per cent of game time in round 13 as a forward against Carlton as he tried to shake an Alex Cincotta tag, attending just 34 per cent of centre bounces (he also managed to take three kick-ins). His SuperCoach scores are also suffering, posting just one over 100 in his past five games.

Champion Data’s weekly SuperCoach stats report also reveals:

ALASTAIR Clarkson spun the magnets at North Melbourne, sending Colby McKercher to defence for the first time this year (six kick-ins) and Harry Sheezel getting a spike in centre bounces. The moves worked for both players, with McKercher scoring a season-high 144 SuperCoach points and Sheezel’s 137 his best since round 4.

TOM Liberatore’s centre bounces plunging from 33 to 11 as Adam Treloar returned to the Bulldogs’ line-up.

GIANT Brent Daniels scoring 83 SuperCoach points in 59 per cent game time on his return from a long-term injury. He attended seven centre bounces.

NIC Martin attending two centre bounces, down from 19 the week before. He took four kick-ins from full-back.
