Adam Treloar $311,700

The first thing you need to know is Treloar started last year priced at $628,200. During the 2024 season his price reached as high as $649k. So this is one hell of a discount. It is based on his 2025 season, when Treloar managed just four games and was subbed off injured in the second quarter of the round 15 clash against Richmond, his last AFL appearance for the year. We know what the Bulldogs jet can do when his body allows – and that is the big question mark. He will be 33 in opening round and has battled soft-tissue concerns for years – but has still managed 100-plus averages in nine of the past 12 seasons and across 2022-24 he played 21, 19 and 22 games. The latest word is he has returned strongly to the start of pre-season after playing three VFL finals – including a flag – for Footscray.

Jagga Smith $119,900

An ACL injury last summer wiped out Smith’s first season at Carlton but resulted in a greatly reduced price for next year. The No.3 pick from the 2024 draft is back in training and hoping to step straight into the Blues’ midfield for round 1. To quote from the 2025 SuperCoach Rookie Bible: “The agile midfielder is an absolute ball magnet, registering 50 disposals against the Western Jets and then another 40 the very next week, is super clean, makes good decisions and hit the scoreboard more as the year went on.” Put him on top of your rookie shopping list.

Willem Duursma $203,500

We’ll have to pay a bit more for this year’s No.1 pick, the most expensive of the new crop of draftees. Duursma can play anywhere and his role will be an interesting watch at the Eagles, where he could start his career in the midfield, half-forward or half-back. Wherever he plays, he’s likely to get plenty of senior opportunities and is ready to step straight into the best 22 after collecting 37 disposals across two games for the Casey Demons in the VFL this year – and catching the eye already at West Coast training. At under-18 level he averaged 145 SuperCoach points in the Coates League and 129 at the National Championships.

Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera $622,300

Well played if you started ‘Nas’ last season at $543k. We are unlikely to get him that cheap again for a long time, but the highest priced defender in 2026 is likely to start in plenty of teams after his blazing finish to last season. Following St Kilda’s bye he averaged 125 over the last 11 games, which actually makes his 2026 starting value a potential bargain (he’s priced at a season-long 115 average). Keep an eye on his likely role after some significant stints in the midfield late last year and some big changes to the Saints list – but he can score wherever he plays.

Charlie Curnow $377,300

Callum Mills says he is the missing piece in Sydney’s premiership puzzle and Errol Gulden is comparing him to Lance Franklin. And that’s before Curnow plays a game for his new club. The former Blue wanted a new home and Sydney wanted a key forward, and this trade could deliver a SuperCoach steal. Key forwards are notoriously volatile, but they can also make money fast with two or three big games. The glass half-full case is Curnow returns to his form of 2023, when he peaked in price at almost $600k and averaged 98 over 23 games. The Swans have a tough early fixture with Brisbane and Hawthorn in the first two rounds followed by a bye. It might be safer to wait until Curnow’s run opens up – unless you’re confident he’s Buddy 2.0.

Zach Merrett $583,000

The now former Bombers skipper will be one of the biggest stories of next season after his failed bid to move to Hawthorn during the trade period. Merrett has stepped down as Essendon captain and has some relationship managing to do off the field, but don’t expect his on-field output to suddenly diminish. He has been one of the most consistent midfielders in SuperCoach for the past decade, averaging at least 106 points a game since 2017 – and barely missed a game in that time. And he could be underpriced next year if he hits the field with a point to prove. Merrett was worth $621,100 at round 1 last season.
