Melbourne forward Kysaiah Pickett is set to miss the start of the 2024 home-and-away season and is in for some hip-pocket pain after being cited for two separate incidents by the AFL’s match review officer.
Pickett received a one-match ban for a bump on Carlton captain Patrick Cripps during the second quarter of Friday night’s semi-final and can accept a $1500 fine with an early plea for striking Blues backman Mitch McGovern during the opening quarter.
Pickett jumped off the ground in the bump on Cripps, who suffered a blood nose but played out the game.
The incident was graded as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.
The striking charge resulted from Pickett clipping McGovern high after the Carlton player had attempted to lay a shepherd.
It is the second time this season that Pickett has been charged for a bump, after he accepted a two-match ban for collecting Western Bulldogs midfielder Bailey Smith in round 1 this year.
Fellow Demon Jack Viney has been offered a $3000 fine for rough conduct against Lachlan Fogarty during the third quarter on Friday night, while Tom Sparrow can accept a $1000 fine for a misconduct charge during the final term.
