Jeremy Finlayson had himself a day out on Saturday as Port Adelaide comfortably took care of business against Hawthorn at Adelaide Oval.

The Power forward burst out of the gates, kicking four first half goals before adding to his tally in the third quarter to finish with five goals.

He was the most damaging player on the ground in the opening half as the Power raced away to hold an 82-point advantage.

They put the cue in the rack in the second half as Hawthorn fought back valiantly but it was Finlayson who stole the show.

His mightily impressive display had fans heaping praise on him, but it was moments before and after the contest that really stole the hearts of the footy world.

The 27-year-old led his side out onto the ground where he was met by his wife Kellie and daughter Sophia.

With his arms spread wide and an even bigger smile on his face, the star grabbed Sophia and ran out onto the ground with her before taking her back to Kellie.

But it was after the game when even the coldest heart would have melted as the star celebrated his best game of the season.

After the team loudly sang the song following their ninth straight win, Finlayson grabbed Sophia and planted a big kiss as the two embraced in the rooms.

The Finlayson’s have won over the hearts of the footy world with fans far and wide getting behind them as Kellie battles terminal bowel cancer battle.

Only days ago she shared the update that her cancer following chemo had been restaged. This meant the severity had been reduced but still a way away from being in the clear. Not cancer free as had been written online.

“Unfortunately, some media outlets chose to share another narrative off the back of this interview, taking the best snippets of information and making it sound as if I was miraculously cured and cancer-free. This is absolutely not the case,” she said in a statement to the press on Friday.

“As you can imagine, upon seeing these stories I was inundated with friends and family calling to celebrate “my miracle”.

“I have had to tell each and every one of them that my prognosis has not changed. I still have stage four colorectal cancer and I am not cancer-free.

“This has been so incredibly traumatic for me, telling people over and over again that I still have terminal cancer.”
